This is my Karathril™ homebrew.

I love the flavor, the style and the idea that Kathril conveys, but after a bunch of different tries I concluded that it might not be worthy of the commander spot in the deck. Thats why I've built this deck around the Kathril mentality but without him at the helm of this deck. I'm still figuring some stuff out but I'm pretty sure this deck will have a better chance against most other decks than the Kathril version ever had.

Karador, Ghost Chieftain brings a lot to the table that kathril needs but does not reliably get from running those cards in the 99

The deck is divided into a few categories in wich the cards are classified. First off we have the standard stuff like ramp, removal and card draw. I tried to have all these effects attached to creatures so they could be replayed by using Karador's ability. I'm not yet satisfied with the amount of card draw, but I'm testing if the amount of tutors and self mill is enough compensation for the lack of pure card draw.

The next category is self mill. This is one of the more important categories in the deck, because it is the best way to get our keyword soup creatures in the yard for our Kathril turn.

Our recursion category is quite lean, because our commander plays a huge part in fulfilling this role.

Next up are our keyword creatures and the payoff of having them. Of course they are themselves a kind of payoff because they exist with reasonable bodies and statlines. But the real payoff cards are, of course, Kathril, Aspect Warper and my backup Kathrils, Cairn Wanderer, Majestic Myriarch, Soulflayer and Odric, Lunarch Marshal

And finally we have arrived at the tutor category. I've decided to play quite a few of them to make sure that we can reliably get our Kathril and friends into play.

I've also decided that I would like to keep the deck pretty budget, but it is not my main concern to sacrifice playability in favor of my wallet.
