Yidris Storm 1.1

Commander / EDH*

Andrillian

Replacements:

Out:

  • Assault Strobe. This card seems to be a whole lot of win more. It's a bad card to cascade into and is only useful if you draw it before attacking with Yidris, since the goal is to be winning after your first connection. Generally it feels unnecessary.

  • Skyshroud Claim. This card's power depends on being able to find dual lands but is often not needed. Four mana is too high of a cost, and so feels much worse than Nature's Lore and Farseek.

  • Sword of Feast and Famine. Like Assault Strobe, this feels like a win more card. It's only truly relevant in the situation of having it in play with Lightning Greaves and waiting for 6 mana to cast Yidris, double equip, and attack to go off that turn, but that situation will usually involve delaying a turn or two which means it will end up with the same result, only with more headache.

  • Priest of Gix. The density of "free" spells in this list is already pretty high, and fixing for triple black isn't as difficult as fixing for other colors due to the Bubbling Muck aspect of the deck.

  • 1 Swamp. The deck has a high density of cheap ramp and only really wants to hit four lands. I think cutting one is acceptable, maybe even one more.

  • Grim Tutor. This card is just a bad tutor that I added for redundancy, but which is extremely expensive monetarily. Not necessary.

  • Mox Diamond. Like Grim Tutor, this card is just a pretty good card that can get cascaded into with a 1 drop that is far too expensive for its own good. It doesn't need to be here.

In:

  • Prismatic Omen. This likely should've been in the first build and is just incredible for fixing and enabling High Tide/Bubbling Muck.

  • Chaos Warp. Instant speed catch all answer that can semi-feasibly help you combo off by warping a land into something else.

  • Maelstrom Pulse. A good catch all that can deal with problem cards that could interfere with going off.

  • Sylvan Library. Early card selection and synergy with cascade.

  • Cyclonic Rift. Instant speed answer to any problem card that can allow you to go off the next turn. Also functions as an instant speed board wipe if you need to delay your combo.

  • Seasons Past. This seems spicy as hell and also very powerful. It can cascade into a lot of things, and even getting back two or three cards is incredible since it gets three more cascades.

  • Grapeshot. Until I can find a better win condition, Grapeshot will do as an alternative to Tendrils. It's literally less than half as powerful, but since the deck can theoretically now cycle itself better, it's more feasible to get a very high storm count.
