My Deck: 04 "Rith's Romp" reworked with Atla as the new commander.

A fellow (and more experienced player) at my LGS looked over my Rith deck, and asked, "Nice, but have you seen Atla? I think it would be a better Commander for this deck."

Here we are, some 4 weeks later, and I've raided my card library substituting some "big" (Eldrazi) cards I've never put into a deck. I never had the support cards I needed to make them a viable Tribe, and they never fit well in my other deck's. This one? The Eldrazi tribal-supporting cards just aren't needed, the big cards just appear on the board on their own -- no muss, no fuss! When these guys hit the battlefield in the single-digit turns, well, it's awesome to witness.

Well, this WAS a "100% Competitive rated deck. I've checked back, and now the same deck is 87%. Hmm. Perhaps it's because of the VERY high CMC of 5, but as that's mostly big creatures, with Atla, that's a feature, not a bug!

This thing worked even better than I had hoped and surprised the heck out of me over how well it has performed. Lots of "trial by fire" yet to go, of course, but damn!

November 14 2016: Removed Taurean Mauler Added Irregular Cohort With other Commanders, the Mauler is probably the better choice. In this one, when the Commander is out, we get 2 2/2 Eggs on the Battlefield at once -- all the better to hatch bigger Creatures from the Library.

Next: in pursuit of that 100% again: more removal and control? An "infinite" combo or two? If so, what to swap out?

June 2021: While I have swapped in/out a few cards, I have not updated this list to reflect those changes out of curiosity. This was one of my most powerful decks, 5 years ago. Now, the same deck rates a mere 22% competitive.

Welcome to power-creep.
