Quag Vampires Discussion

SinBlade on Vampire Madness

Stromkirk Noble is a very good, early aggro card. Bloodcrazed Neonate works too. But can falter sometimes.

If you want a sideboard. Shadow Alley Denizen is very nice! (Or maybe Quag Vampires, but that's more situational)

not feeling Falkenrath Gorger and Asylum Visitor since the creatures themselves have to be discarded first then you can pay the madness cost and you dont have self discard; Quag Vampires if you really need that one attacker to get through works with the play group; Tithe Drinker feel there are better vampires than this....

Bloodlord of Vaasgoth to help with late game and Kindred Charge for multiple triggers going off since the tokens are copies of the creatures and where is Panharmonicon

Gatekeeper of Malakir is a great vampire to control as long as you kick it. You might want to incorporate it somewhere. A great one drop vampire that also can kick is called Quag Vampires. Hope this finds you well.

Slimo106 on Edgar Tokens

I like many of your cards and others, not so much. Ill start with the good part.

Shivan Harvest: Awesome, gonna have to include that in my own deck. I keep forgetting this card exists.

Mardu Ascendancy: Yes and no. The first part of the enchantment is decent for an aggro deck, but the second part will be mostly useless. Your biggest enemy will be wraths, not combat. If you're running Edgar, you will probably have the most creatures.

Obzedat's Aid: A great card.

Lapse of Certainty: It always helps to be a little tricky. A spell like this will never go unused if you draw it during a game.

Bitterblossom: An excellent card for Edgar. I'd run it myself if I had one.

Now for the bad:

Quag Vampires: I would swap those guys with a

Shadow Alley Denizen, who gives more utility.

Vedalken Orrery: Why? You'll not generate a large amount of mana with this deck and your sorcery count is also low. Not worth the slot in this deck.

Ghostly Prison: You're gonna have a buttload of creatures, so it's just better to block with those, instead of a 3 cmc enchantment that you could replace with Vindicate, Shared Animosity, or a Boros Charm to protect yourself from wraths, which will make you cry. Also, you could fetch that last card with your sunforger, so there's that.No Stromkirk Captain? You just HAVE to run this guy, no way around that.

Ranger of Eos: Your one drops are not that impactful to warrant him being here.

Lastly, as suggestion, I would run Phyrexian Reclamation. You could return a vampire to your hand, cast it again, and activate Edgar's eminence in a recurring fashion.

Hope this helped!

Hexcimal on Mono Black Vampire Deck

It's always nice to see a mono black Vampire list. I used to run one myself before I repurposed the deck into others, and seeing them brings nostalgia. Out of curiosity, have you considered running B/R for the deck to be better competitively, or are you certain that you want this to be a strictly mono black build? Regardless, just a couple thoughts.

Consider running more 1 CMC cards to give yourself turn 1 plays. Whether it be more removal, more buffing/utility spells, or more creatures, Vampires as a tribe prefer aggressive builds that start quickly.

Some stragglers to consider replacing include Child of Night and Vampire's Bite.

Also, wanted to point out that I love the synergy with Quag Vampires and Contaminated Ground.

Tyrant-Thanatos on For Assholes Only

Sea's Claim and Spreading Seas could make good sideboard cards against black, which doesn't really care about having its lands turned to swamps. Corrupted Roots could be sideboarded as additional land enchants, or cheaper land enchants against certain decks.

You could also just consider a handful of swampwalkers, they would also counter black, and could even be used alongside Evil Presence or Contaminated Ground. Quag Vampires are nice.

Thanks for the suggestions bro. I would defiantly love to run Kalitas if he wasn't so expensive. Bloodline Keeper  Flip is great too, but I think they both would be a little slow for the deck. Mirri the Cursed is the top of my curve, and she's mostly in here because she can come in with flying and haste and surprise the shit out of people.

I like those 1 drops too, I've tried a lot of different ones and nothing seems quite right except Stromkirk Noble. The Quag Vampires aren't bad, get them out early and they can grow with the other Vamps or late game you can kick it a few times. I'll try out some of the ones you mentioned too. Probably gonna go up to 4x Stromkirk Noble and 2x of whatever other 1x drop I decide on. But I feel I defiantly need 6x 1 drops to get things going early on.

Thanks for the comment man, this deck has been rebuilt many times and has had many different strategies but I'm liking it this way the best.

For 1 drops I run Stromkirk Noble and Quag Vampires. The latter are really effect against black and can also be kicked for extra power later in the game. I want to get some Gatekeeper of Malakir as well.

Oh and is there any reason you are only running 1 Terminate? It's a great kill spell.
