Frantic Salvage

K4nkato on Worship at Krark's Altar

Trying out a Mystical Teachings sideboard plan. It would be nice to run a bunch of one-of instants to grab with Teachings like 5C Tron but most of my deck needs to be saved for Eggs. Instead, Teachings can run as additional copies of various answer pieces like Cast into the Fire and Weather the Storm.

Frantic Salvage is tempting only because it makes multiple Golem Foundries into a timely win condition, but since I already want room for another Reckoner's Bargain and Ancient Stirrings I think I’m good. If WotC ever prints Grisly Salvage for artifacts I’ll be all over it.

K4nkato on Timing question about Lembas's shuffle …

Let's say I crack Lembas to gain 3 life. In response to the shuffle trigger, I play Frantic Salvage to put it on top of my library and draw it again. When the shuffle trigger resolves, do I still have to shuffle or does the trigger fizzle since Lembas is no longer in the graveyard?

Oh also Sequestered Stash and maybe Frantic Salvage. Really cool deck!

I would look into some card draw, since you are running low CMC cards such as Signal Pest, Springleaf Drum, Ornithopter, Memnite, and Mox Opal. That's twenty cards at CMC 1 or lower, plus twenty free lands...Maybe Expose Evil (clues are artifacts, so any investigate cards would work), Pirate's Pillage, Frantic Salvage, or Origin Spellbomb.Serum Tank would run well, as would Tamiyo's Journal or Trading Post. You could also run Nahiri, the Harbinger for a control/search element.

I am going to respond to as many of these as I can. First of, thanks xXMVGXx for pointing out the surplus Conjurer's Bauble, I totally did not see that. Next up, abby315, I like your idea of Echoing Truth, that's going into the sideboard (there is room now). One more thing, you're right, Rest in Peace is also a shutdown. Finally, azumanga94. The reason I am not running any Lotus Bloom is that I am not running Faith's Reward (which i'll get into later), and with Frantic Salvage I would still need to cast it, suspend and all. As for Faith's Reward, after a significant amount of playtesting, It would often miss four or five eggs from a 10-egg yard, because they were put there before turn 3. Also, Frantic Salvage allows me to cast the already-used eggs, benefitting Aetherflux Reservoir (or Grapeshot if you boarded out), while Faith's Reward just plops them on the field.

Changes Made Because of your contribution:

  1. -2 Dispatch
  2. -2 Conjurer's Bauble
  3. +2 Echoing Truth
  4. +2 Path to Exile

imoutogetyou on Nazahn, Revered Weaponsmith

For creature protection I would recommend Swiftfoot Boots, and Lightning Greaves. This is especially good if you include Leonin Shikari, which in a equipment based deck will just straight bamboozle opponents trying to do combat math when you have creatures on the board. Likewise Inventors' Fair should help find equipment or just plain artifacts. You may also want to consider Sculpting Steel as a second copy of Masterwork of Ingenuity.

I think that the lack of recursion might be holding this back, love Hammer of Nazahn and Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith, but you want to get things back it seems like you would need to destiny draw Remember the Fallen. Because Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith will be finding you a bunch of equipment Mistveil Plains can help if anything gets destroyed get it back from the graveyard. Golden Wish is alright if you really want to get things back from exile. Frantic Salvage is fantastic if you face artifact wrath, and gets the cards back in your deck. Or maybe Creeping Renaissance because it is so effective for broad uses.
