Cruel Edict Discussion

Landonius upon inspection yes, at first I was going to say "No due to instant speed casting" but than I realized I had mistaken Cruel Edict for Diabolic Edict I'm swapping these out, and in the end the 1 life difference of Geth's Verdict cant compare to instant speed.

Geth's Verdict is probably a better option than Cruel Edict, right?

I love these colors and the recursion mechanics.

Have you ever tested with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest in this list? It might be cool with a few more sac outlets/multipliers (e.g. Grave Pact, Savra, Queen of the Golgari), sac effects (e.g. Cruel Edict, Liliana of the Veil), and Proliferate effects (e.g. Corpsejack Menace, Doubling Season, Hardened Scales, Winding Constrictor).

Have fun brewing!

You could shift your mana-base to cover green instead of black. You'd be missing out on Cruel Edict but, you would be gaining access to a lot of good cards for the early game, like Satyr Wayfinder Commune with the Gods and Sakura-Tribe Elder. It will also allow you to hard cast some powerful creatures when you're in a pinch like Kalonian Hydra and Master Biomancer.

regardless, i'd also try out some of the evoke creatures like Mulldrifter and Shriekmaw. Some of the fringe evoke creatues could be good sideboard tech.

Manabase is too slow with 6 tap land, early turn mana is very important.

Browbeat Is just bad all decks can take that 5 damage at least once and 3 mana sorcery speed spell which rarely does anything viable is not good.

No Mana Leak seems bit weird.

Grixis Charm Could be one off, it does everything you need.

Dissipate Should be replaced with Disallow it is just straightly better.

And why you have 4x Cruel Edict in sideboard, but no gravehate at all?

And you have only 2 boardwipes which makes you very vulnerable to all aggro decks like Affinity, Elves, different Coco decks.

I don't see why play Black over White as White has maybe best sideboard cards in whole Modern. (Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Leyline of Sanctity and so on)

So changes i would make:

-x4 Browbeat

-2x Dissipate

-2x Wurmcoil Engine

And maybe some amounts of Lightning Bolts out.

Add some amounts of Terminates, Disallows and perhaps Kolaghan's Commands

And if you ever want to cast Keranos, God of Storms i think that 21 lands is way too low amount of lands, usually Control decks plays around 25-26 lands anyway.

I'll make some cut suggestions in a bit. There are a few underwhelming cards, at least by EDH standards. (e.g. Cruel Edict)
