ZEDRUU -

Zedruu, The Greathearted is by far my favorite MTG deck- this is an attempt to make it stand proudly against competitive decks. It's main strength is individual pieces that are useful but also combo pieces.

Zedruu is probably the best at taking advantage of rule of law effects, and those are very strong in CEDH, most decks come to a screeching halt as soon as one of those cards hit the table, and man once those are down zedruu is the happiest goat in town, play your stax, donate your stax, draw cards and drag the game out until you've assembled one of your many combos. This deck runs lots of tutors so you can find the best stax piece for any situation, and being in jeskai you have access to one of the strongest stax tutors in commander: Wild Research is a engine, and will lock the game down and tutor for your wins. Zedruu's weak if theirs 2 or 3 fast combo decks, but against 1 he can do work, an ideal pod is one with at least 1 other control player.
anything that lets you get a turn 2 Rule of Law effect in play is a insta-keep, an early stranglehold is also an important stax piece, but remember this wont work against decks like gitrog. Rest in peace is also very strong early but very meta dependent. Humility is probably the best stax piece in commander and if you can get it down just watch other decks cry.
Zedruu has a hard time with colors. It might be because I cant afford OG duals, but man he is color hungry, I would say budget comp zedruu is nearly impossible if only because of his mana base. And Zedruu wants to go first so hard, if youre last, He's going to have a hard time. Remember your stax piece are proactive, so getting them down before your opponents is very important. Sometime being proactive is painful and you can empty your hand pretty quickly, this is where zedruu comes in, if you can stick 1 important stack piece zedruu shines.

1) Swans of Bryn Argoll + Chains of plasma + lab man = win

3) Rest in Peace + Mirror of Fate + Temporal Mastery = infinite turns, build your own doomsday pile.

4) Hive Mind + any pact == if you're not playing those colors you lose

5) Helm of Obedience + Rest in Peace == kill one player at a time

6) Hive Mind + Final Fortune + Angel's Grace

The first thing to keep in mind when comboing with zedruu is that often times it's smarter to hold on to your combos until just the right time, going off turn 3 is for the plebs, win through wit and play with the table in mind. Did someone just force the zur player? And he's tapped out? Do you have mana maze in play and brainstorm in hand? What makes this deck so powerful is it's ability to resolve its combos once it has good enough lock.

1) Humility : probably one of the best stax pieces in commander, and criminally underplayed. Most decks have a hard time working with humility in play, you do too, but you're at a sever advantage compared to most decks, I have lost to beats before, but once humility comes into play most decks just become unplayable

2) Stony Silence : On the cutting block, depending on your playgroup it can either be insane or awful, whatever the case it's always there just in case.

3) Orb of Dreams : all around great piece of stax, slows opponents down, although absolutely not good enough by itself.

4) Mana Maze , and Rule of Law effects : Probably the strongest effects in cEDH, but you would be surprised how often the game starts revolving around protecting these effects when there's 3 players at the table with loaded handguns. When people are negating Nature's Claim to protect your stax pieces, your doing it right.

5) Relic of Progenitus , Rest in Peace : Graveyard hate is extremely important in cEDH, does this hurt you? sure, but it hurts other decks way more.

7) Stranglehold : Not as insane as some people think, but still very strong, unfortunately playing this card "Fairly" on turn 4 or even turn 3, is usually already too late, but early in the game it can be devastating
