Role Reversal Discussion

legendofa on Adventures in the Forgotten Realms …

I'm going to complain a little more. I apologize.

Why are all the bards in Magic ? Yisan, the Wanderer Bard was kind of the trendsetter, and he's not especiallu D&D bard-ish. I can kind of forgive Elvish Bard and Joraga Bard since they're Elves.

Which of these describe traditional/stereotypical D&D bards?

Instinct driven, nature-centric, strong belief in destiny, physically powerful, focused on predator-prey interactions, minimalist

My answer is none. There is nothing about traditional D&D bards. They tend to fall into two broad categories, inspiring and manipulative. Inspiring would be -- Rally the Peasants , Outlaws' Merriment , Deafening Clarion , and Heartwarming Redemption are cards I would identify as showing this type of bard. Manipulative would be , with Beguiler of Wills , Besmirch , Role Reversal , and Captivating Crew as representative cards. Bards aren't nature characters. They can probably survive in the woods alone, but so can a paladin. Bards are , not .

Hi,

running a Zedruu deck myself and saw you are looking for (help).

Have you considered these cards:

My version of Zedruu revolves around playing lots of enchantment removal (i.e. Oblivion Ring type of removal) which can be donated away afterwards for no penalty but good Zedruu gains. See my deck for more inspiration.

Enjoy the gifting :-)

Being a huge Zedruu fan myself I gave your deck a look.

You are aware that Iona, Shield of Emeria is banned in EDH?

A few interesting suggestions to consider:

See my verion for more interesting options and possible ideas.

Have fun gifting!

I stumbled upon your deck. I am a Zedruu fan myself and run a deck. See my approach with token and removal centric build for possible ideas.

Some cards that came to mind looking at your deck:

Good luck gifting!

Swapping Nine Lives with another enchantment is always a challenge for me. Unlike before that we have Role Reversal in standard, you will need to decide when you will cast tricksters. In most cases, I would cast it if I have legal targets that are worthy to swap with. Also, a lot of meta decks right now are using enchantments which are legal targets to swap with Nine Lives using the second chapter of Tricksters. If you're worried about giving the last point of damage for nine lives, you don't need to worry about it because I have many ways to get rid of it without targeting - Cyclone Summoner , Pharika's Libation , Ugin, the Spirit Dragon , Ondu Inversion  Flip. Also, I dont really rely on Nine Lives comber per se that's why I have my wish board in different situations. There were times that Ashiok and or Kaya wins games for me without the combo.

ShiltonCDXX: that's a great addition to my wishboard. thanks for pointing me out!

I can think of some better land cycles to use, such as fetch lands and shock lands. If you can, I would add them. Also Wrong Turn, Harmless Offering, and Role Reversal are some more ways to be in the spirit of giving.

When I first saw the commanders for the deck, I thought the idea would be to incentivize other players to attack each other, while picking off opponents by playing and gifting cards like Demonic Pact, Forbidden Crypt, Immortal Coil, Lich, Lich's Mastery, and Nefarious Lich. I figure you'd gift them with cards like Puca's Mischief and Role Reversal. I'm not gonna tell you how to build your deck, but I figured you'd enjoy considering make a separate one centered around this.

Hive Mind for crazy gifting shenanigans when using cards like Role Reversal. You also force everybody to give to their spells to each other
