Hmmm, "merchant," you say? Perhaps named Gary?

Combo with Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm or Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + one of his combo pieces and finish 'em off: 1. By pumping a creature using Fallen Ideal, 2. By pinging them with Diregraf Captain or Blasting Station, 3. By milling via Altar of Dementia, 4. By life loss via Bastion of Remembrance or Plague Belcher

Non-combo finishers include: 1. Rite of Replication + Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or 2. Soul-Guide Lantern or Bojuka Bog + Living Death, or 3. Zombie Apocalypse + Throne of the God-Pharaoh

The deck's pretty casual because even though it combos, I'm running no counterspells (or really powerful effects that wouldn't fit the flavor, such as Cyclonic Rift). The combos are just the finishers, and to be honest it should be easy to adapt to the power level of the table so no one gets steamrolled. The Mikaeus combos are so degenerate, but there are multiple ways to win with this that don't involve them, so I feel much better about playing this deck than I ever did my unfun mono-black Mikaeus, the Unhallowed deck. I added some pet cards like Liliana, Heretical Healer   and Compelling Deterrence (I LOVE the art on both those cards - gives me very similar feelings to RE4 or RE8).

As you can see, even though zombies are a really OP tribe, the focus of this deck is on flavor and fun. In fact, Wilhelt reminds me of Lord Saddler from Resident Evil 4, so I had a little fun with the deck title as well.

There are some other zombies I'd like to include now that I've got snow lands (I had the swamps, but I bought the islands off eBay recently). I'm thinking specifically of Narfi, Betrayer King (and maybe even King Narfi's Betrayal), but also some pure fun jank like Zombie Musher.

Now that it's December, why not give my Halloween deck a season update?

I'm having a blast building this deck, and I love looking at everyone else's Wilhelt builds too. (Tho sometimes I'm tempted to switch to Gisa and Geralf for my general, since I love them so much too).

UPDATE 12/16/2023

My last few matches with my playgroup have shown me that it's time to retool a few things and make the wincons more tutorable.

Therefore, I've added some transmute cards like Netherborn Phalanx and Dimir House Guard, which are good creatures on their own, but can tutor for some important pieces. For example, House Guard can grab Gisa and Geralf (which is the general in the MODO version of this deck), or Erebos, God of the Dead to shut down lifegain decks, or -- best of all -- Skinrender for the Mikaeus combo. Phalanx can grab Rooftop Storm for its many combos. For reference, see here. I don't want to list the combos. Some of them are well known, such as Gravecrawler combo.

I've also exchanged Malicious Affliction for Reality Shift. Affliction is great, but it's a major problem in my playgroup not to hit black creatures, and I've found that cards don't stay in graveyards for long. While there are some black cards that can exile, Reality Shift seems most efficient in this deck. I'm open to other suggestions, though.

The two cards I hated to remove are Frost Marsh and Liliana of the Dark Realms, especially Liliana, but quite frankly she gets removed pretty quickly. My opponents love unblockable creatures, so I have found myself unable to protect her long enough to matter.
