Poppet Stitcher

Creature — Human Wizard

Whenever you cast an instant or or sorcery spell, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token with decayed. (It can't block. When it attacks, sacrifice it at the end of combat.)

At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control three or more creature tokens, you may transform this.

Poppet Stitcher  Flip would be insane here due to the ability on the flip side: "Creature tokens you control lose all abilities.." This means that Poppet Factory + Wilhelt + a sac outlet + any zombie is infinite sacks. You could also include cards to fetch Poppet Stitcher like Drift of Phantasms, Dimir Machinations, Vedalken AEthermage, and Step Through.

You might like these too: Pitiless Plunderer, Distant Melody, Carrion Feeder

Zombie tribal is so fun because there's so many nasty cards to pick from. The hardest part for me is deciding what stays and what goes. Here's my build Swipe Right on Wilhelt (wip) for shared ideas. I can't wait for necroduality to get in there. Surprised you don't have Poppet Stitcher  Flip in yours. plus one for the undead swarm. Cheers!

Phion, thanks! Interesting idea. I did notice the first couple of times playing with my group that Poppet Stitcher  Flip is pretty useless if, for some reason, you don't have tokens out yet. So this could work for sure.

I feel like Junk Winder is very underrated as a card that can easily have a whole deck built around him. I want to keep things budget friendly, though Im not sure which specific direction to take him.

I was thinking of taking advantage of Hero of Precinct One since he's potentially an efficient token maker depending on how I build the deck. I can combine him with Saheeli, Sublime Artificer to potentially generate a lot of tokens, allowing me to summon the Winder fairly quickly and start tapping down permanents.

If I want to focus on an artifact sub-theme, I can instead use Trail of Evidence with Saheeli instead.

There's also Young Pyromancer plus Trail of Evidence for a spell slinger sub-theme. I would use Poppet Stitcher  Flip in place of Trail of Evidence, but, again, I want to keep things budget friendly.

There's also the potential to use static or landfall-based token generators like From Beyond, Awakening Zone, and Rampaging Baloths, but I feel like this route would either be too slow or would function better without Junk Winder taking up deck space.

I would like to keep the deck from needing more than two colors since anything more would be a nightmare for the mana base price-wise.

Hey, good upgrades so far of the precon. Nice first attempt, but your deck doesn't have a Commander.

In the deck editor add the CMDR tag after Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver text.

1x Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver *CMDR*

When you save and return to your deck then Wilhelt will be the Commander with it's own category and card image.

Undead Augur is in the precon and cutting it is a mistake because it triggers to draw when it dies or any other Zombie including a Zombie token dies. Because it triggers when decayed Zombies die then it can be an excellent source of repeatable draw and it's a Zombie. Augur because it's only two mana is really good with Gisa and Geralf.

Nice foil Acererak the Archlich. Him along with Rooftop Storm is your best way of winning. A way to win with Wilhelt is Poppet Factory which is the backside of Poppet Stitcher  Flip. Factory removes decayed from Zombies letting you with a sac outlet repeatedly sac a decayed Zombie to create another one. Blasting Station or Altar of Dementia are win condition sac outlets with Factory.

If you want to infinite combo with Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm then you also need a sac outlet which Carrion Feeder being a Zombie is helpful. Blasting Station or Altar of Dementia are also win conditions with infinite Gravecrawler. If Rooftop Storm is how you want to win then consider some more protection: Counterspell, Arcane Denial, Lazotep Plating? With 11 Islands Mystic Sanctuary can be a helpful land.

Some changes to consider including some cards in the maybeboard:

Good luck with your deck.

Basically, watch out for Moonmist and Poppet Stitcher  Flip together, as this combo can cause some of the shenanigans mentioned here.

Cool deck! I also struggled with turn 3 when building with Poppet Stitcher  Flip and Sedgemoor Witch in this style of spell-slinger deck.

A high value 1 drop with a mana-sink ability like Ascendant Spirit could be a good creature early game as it gives you board presence and is a way to use mana efficiently without having to go through your instant/sorcery arsenal in your hand. It acting as a magnet for removal due to its upside means there is once less piece of removal for your opponent to target the Stitcher and the Witch.

Delver of Secrets  Flip is another possibility to play test as well.

If you are trying to avoid adding more creatures in the deck, perhaps a way to protect the Stitcher and the Witch will help- you can get the Stitcher or the Witch on turn 4 with room to protect them with a card like You See a Guard Approach.
