Introduction

To be honest, it’s just a slightly different version of Hapatra than the one in the CEDH database. The concept of the deck is to slow down proactive decks with stax pieces/ blue and black hate, control the board with minus one counters and snakes, get a combo and win.

Pros

• Now that flash meta is gone, dorks are in style.... prime fodder for Hapatra counters
• Can compete with competitive playgroups through stax pieces and slight artifact/blue hate
• Feeling the progression of a game in the palm of your hands
• You’ll feel stronger than what you actually are

Cons

• people hate stax decks
• proactive decks sometimes are too fast to deal with
• can be somewhat slow if people aren’t playing blue (or black) or there’s always a blocker for Hapatra
• people want to play the game

Gameplan

You’ll want to keep a hand with two or three lands in it with at least one swamp and a forest in it to meet your quota. If your had has a stax piece even better. You’re going to want to slam Hapatra on the board early in most cases. Hit proactive players with no creatures in the face to get rid of mana dorks. Slowing everyone at the table including yourself is no real problem as you want the game to be long enough for you to get your pieces and to slow down proactive decks, drawing into disrupting spells and more stax. You’ll want to get a few of the MANY tutors in the deck to either win with a combo or .... um ... smack with snakes? You have to be really desperate at that point.

makes infinite snakes and one (infinitely) really big boy (quillspike)

Other cool interactions

• Fauna Shaman to discard/search for Razaketh, the Foulblooded with a reanimating spell in hand to tutor for fast mana and win combos OR to get Vilis, Broker of Bloodto wipe the board, hurt yourself for card draw :D
• Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Kormus Bell may not be THAT competitive but it's funny to get away with land destruction with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons on the board and playing Soul Snuffers, Black Sun's Zenith, or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician
• Pattern of Rebirth on a snake/dork, swing with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons putting minus one on snake/dork, kill it to get any creature you want :)
