DDMG Deck 2: Mortality Mediation

Commander / EDH Exile RW (Boros) Sacrifice Spirits

Calyptic

Welcome to Dungeons & Dragons & Magics & Gatherings, a small Magic: The Gathering brewing project I'm working on because I am bored. These decks together will make a group of Adventurers in the spirit of D&D, with each Commander being a Party Member and the deck both built around the Commander themselves as well as the spirit of the class they represent. The aim is to keep the Power Level of each deck around the same along with its price so that the decks can compete with each other, but you know.. we'll see. So without further ado, let us explore today's adventurer!

Hofri Ghostforge

Class: Cleric (Grave Domain)

Race: Hill Dwarf

Clerics of the Grave Domain oversee the balance between life and death. They serve as intermediaries between both worlds, and in that honor, Hofri Ghostforge fits this description rather well. Apart from simply being a Cleric himself, Hofri is all about keeping things in this mortal plane, while trying to shove your opponents into the next. His ability allows creatures you die to return as token copies of themselves, except they've already passed through once, and are now back as vengeful Spirits with enhanced speed and power. If the manipulation of mortality is not enough to destroy your foes, then the neverending army's might will.

To start, the deck is riddled with several ETB effects that will grant you extreme value or harm your foes. Dockside Extortionist, Zealous Conscripts, and Cavalier of Flame are just some of these examples of creatures that one their own do some handy things. Now imagine being able to do it over and over?

Your first and main method of blinking out creatures over and over is saccing them to certain effects with Hofri out, while also bringing in reanimators. Ashnod's Altar, Goblin Bombardment and others can function as ways to get rid of creatures, only to return them as slightly stronger spirits. And when the spirits themselves are gone and back in your graveyard, Sun Titan, Karmic Guide, and similar creatures can bring them back.

The second method of blinking are using entities such as Felidar Guardian, Restoration Angel, and others to constantly blink things. Noteworthy is their ability to blink eachother infinitely if that's how you wanna go about it, and with multiple effects that can happen off ETB or blinking your creatures, the value is most certainly there.

Victory is typically achieved through slow burn of your opponents via something like Impact Tremors whilst finishing them off with some powerful spirits buffed by Hofri and/or Cathars' Crusade from the constant ETBs. Alternatively going infinite with blinkers is certainly a way.
