Quintorius, Field Historian Discussion

TheoryCrafter for the most part i agree and have cut most of what you suggested, however Selfless Spirit is a great board whip or spot removal savior that can keep coming back and Quintorius, Field Historian is gas since im hoping to reanimate lot (thus having cards leave the graveyard) will make a lot spirit tokens that become 4/2's which is not a small threat, Rotlung Reanimator and Xathrid Necromancer both make zombies and since many clerics are small they will die a lot of so i will have a good number of zombies and it can even be other cleric or human tokens that die/ are sacrificed to make the zombies. Drana is on the chopping block but i do want more reanimating stuff.

Your Commander deck has 122 cards. While I'm all in favor of using more than one strategy I don't think it would be a good idea to do much outside of Kaalia and clerics and still keep the deck legal. And there are cleric cards you can afford to cut due to redundancy.
Cards for my recommendation to cut: Ancestor's Prophet, Bishop of Rebirth, Death-Priest of Myrkul, Drana, the Last Bloodchief, Ethereal Absolution, Master Apothecary, Quintorius, Field Historian, Rotlung Reanimator, Selfless Spirit and Xathrid Necromancer.
With these cuts you'll be about halfway there. Then it depends on which strategy or two you want to prioritize. You may end up cutting so many cards from your deck you can add a few from your sideboard and maybeboard that will synergies with your deck.
I hope this helps. Thank you for reading me out. Happy Hunting!

Hey, so, I didn't see it in your deck list, and no one else suggested it, so here it is.
Literally from the same set as Quintorius, Field Historian

Legendary Creature - Vampire Advisor (Uncommon)
Whenever an opponent sacrifices a permanent, that player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
I'd like to see a signpost uncommon legendary creature. In this set, if this were a signpost uncommon, would be about having your opponents sacrifice things, and this would create be a decent pay off for it.
Signpost uncommons provide a payoff, or are an enabler for a (two-color) limited archetype.

Taken from Epicurus, post #9 on this page.
Legendary Creature - Dryad Druid
Whenever a basic land enters the battlefield under your control, you may have it enter tapped. If you do, create a Herb token.
Dina, Lifecycle Mother gets +1/+1 for each Herb you control.
The same flower that can revive a deer can also fell a nation. Knowing how to use it isn't the trick, it's when.
So, unless I am remembering wrong, Strixhaven was a college for Planeswalkers. The Deans or someone there would find beings whose sparks have not-yet ignited and would bring them and admit them into Strixhaven.
If that is true, take one if the five college students we got and if ignite their sparks. Those cards are, for reference:

And in the line of clerics, I've been enjoying this line of synergy on MTGArena if you'd care to look into it yourself:
Combine those with any number of value clerics with lower CMC and you've got a nasty brew. I'm currently pushing Diamond Tier 4 with it in Standard.
Whether you're interested in it or not I figured you would enjoy the flavor/synergy. Cheers!

Are you choosing to not include Quintorius, Field Historian ? Would create an additional Spirit token each time you sacrifice a creature or use a recursion spell.

ChrisHansonBiomancin Well crap, I you are right. I just looked up the rulings for it. I should have done that first. Well I see me making a Quintorius, Field Historian plus a Titans' Nest (or something) in my near future.
