Behold, the Only Good Simic Deck

Sincere Apologies to my fellow Simic Players, but Momir Vig is lost without Prophet and Edric is a nuisance at best. I bestow upon you the only Simic Deck you'll need.

That being said, both Momir Vig and Edric are extremely exceptional commanders and without them I wouldn't be able to even have this deck. I even have Edric as a secondary draw engine in here.

Keep in mind, this deck is great in cEDH but was designed specifically around my preferred LGS and its commander meta. Similarly to cEDH, Politics get you no where unless you're guaranteed to lose in spite of your deal. Tymna and Thrasios Hermit Druid Combo thrashes about angrily somewhere in there, and we've been forced to endure a lethal turn 2 Fire Ball once or Twice. It's a lot of Chaos on one half of the order, and a whole lot of Combo on the other. This deck is meant to work well with both ends.

Reasons to Play this Deck: It's fun, and has some easy to learn, hard to master combos. It has some control aspects, and can assure your opponents that if you can't win, no one can. It can deal with a lot of 'Max' Power EDH lists. It's best match up is against Prossh due to him triggering our own Intruder Alarm for our Yisan to go off on His Turn.

Reasons not to play: I made this deck at 4 AM While eating Dots and thinking about how much I hated Ravnica Allegiance. This isn't optimal. 900 Dollars to Prove you're good at turning cards sideways to a bunch of people who will call you unoriginal. Flash Hulk is Immoral. It will kill casual decks outright. If they don't have Pacts/Forces, this deck will crush them. Complicated Stacks with certain interactions have caused xMage to crash on me because of this deck like 10 times. Just play Momir or Edric, they are actually consistent.

Turn 1 Win: Your hand looked like Mana Vault + Sol Ring + Flash + Protean Hulk + Breeding Pool + Thousand-Year Elixir + Elvish Spirit Guide Draw into Pact of Negation for protection or have it replace Sol Ring, doesn't really matter. Play Breeding Pool Exile Elvish Spirit Guide Cast Mana Vault Cast Sol Ring Cast Flash Play Protean Hulk Fetch Walking Ballista + Grand Architect + Rootwater Diver + Pili-Pala Cast Thousand-Year Elixir

Grand Architect + Pili-Pala = Infinite Mana

Rootwater Diver Fetches Walking Ballista From Grave, Infinite Damage on board.

If they Counter, pact their counter. If they have 2 Counters, play your commander.

Prime Speaker Vannifar Pod away Pili-Pala with your infinite Mana for Yisan Chord, go up his tiers. Quirion Ranger into Scryb Ranger into Eternal Witness Get back your original Combo.

If they stifle the Eternal Witness Trigger, then wait a turn. Then if your board is still there, you Yisan for Temur Sabertooth With your infinite mana, and infinite ETBs, your combo can't be halted without a Torpor Orb or Dampening Sphere. But that's when you just get the good ole Nature's Claim Somehow.

Turn 2:

Second Verse same as the First only this time you were forced to wait a turn.

On your Turn 1, Mana Crypt into Mana Vault into Breeding Pool into Exploration into City of Brass into Simic Signet into Prime Speaker Vannifar

Turn 2, Intruder Alarm and any one drop and you can get access to more or less any combo in your deck. Alternatively, if you Quirion Ranger and Cast Scryb Ranger instead of Intruder Alarm, you can also do some shenanigans. I,E, Sacrifice Quirion Ranger into Pili-Pala and then untap with Scryb Ranger and then Sacrifice Scryb Ranger into Grand Architect and invest all of this infinite mana into whatever the last spell in your hand is going to be. If it's Walking Ballista Congrats, you won. If it's Nexus of Fate Congrats, you won. If it's Tooth and Nail Congrats, you won. But if it's, say, Staff of Domination not only did you win, but your opponents are now mad because this card has a bad reputation.

Oh, you want more than that combo? How about this. Defense of the Heart and let it pop. Fetch out your Avenger of Zendikar + Craterhoof Behemoth + Titania, Protector of Argoth and you win. Not immediately, but no one's going to fight the man who has 3 plants on turn 2, a 5/3 elemental from the Fetch you probably popped to get that aforementioned Breeding Pool and now you look like an idiot. You get mocked, but then they forgot you have one vital card. Temur Sabertooth Which thanks to your many instances of Infinite Mana, you will AvengeHoof enough times to clear board turn 2.

Your optimal Yisan Route: Quirion Ranger + Scryb Ranger + Selvala, Heart of the WIlds + Temur Sabertooth + Acidic Slime + Duplicant + Avenger of Zendikar + Craterhoof Behemoth Optimal Pod Route: Dryad Arbor + Quirion Ranger + Scryb Ranger + Eternal Witness + Temur Sabertooth + Titania, Protector of Argoth + Bane of Progress + Protean Hulk + Craterhof Behemoth

Hands to Keep: You NEED 4 Mana by Turn 2 in order to remain viable. You need both of your Color Sources as well, so the worst hand you can have is something akin to Island Forest Llanowar Elves Elvish Spirit Guide and 3 of any other card. No Color Flexibility, and only one chance to cast your commander at 4 Mana. Not to mention, no guarantee of 4 or even 3 mana the next turn as you could go to sac your Elf and they Stifle your ability.

Perfect hand was described above in the Turn 1 Win hand. Hands not to Keep: I'll put some examples of what killed me when testing. Force of Will Pact of Negation Stifle Forest Quirion Druid Avenger of Zendikar Craterhoof Behemoth

Wow, you have a Turn 1 Play in that hand. That does nothing! You can't cast anything but a chump blocker and potentially kill yourself with Pact of Negation.

Forest Forest Forest Forest Forest Forest Stifle

Same situation, only this one was funnier. I have very few basics and I got 6 in one hand.

Mana Crypt Sol Ring Mana Vault Island Llanowar Elves Pact of Negation Scryb Ranger

Are you seeing a theme? Just because you CAN cast things in your hand, doesn't make them good. Island and some mana does almost nothing in this deck aside from counter. The only acceptable draws you can get after this are drawing into Nexus of Fate, Staff of Domination, Mystic Remora, or Duplicant. Even then, they don't do THAT much.

I am looking for help to optimize! Without buying Dual Lands, mind you. I'm already hurting from ordering these cards, I don't need to have a card I have to keep in 5 layers of Bullet Proof Glass just to 'Sleeve' it for 'Play'.
