When you get to protean hulk, vannifar remains tapped, how do you untap her deterministically in your chain? For example in the trophy lines she gets untapped by a hasted fatestitcher once for 4-5 then reanimated to pod the 5 into great oak, which untaps her for 6 to hulk, and the unearthed fatestitcher as well. Also the sage of hours combo is pretty shitty my man, since you are running 6 entirely dead cards that have no utility outside of the combo and one of them isn't even walking ballista. Why not grand architect pili pala walking ballista Rootwater Diver / Prophet of Distortion after the trophy mage line? Those cards are way less bad and are vannifars unique protean stack. Just my 2 cents.

There was a Vannifar line that somebody posted on either the commander list or reddit which was 1 drop creature -> Scryb Ranger -> Trophy Mage (fetching Thousand-Year Elixir ) -> elixir untaps Vannifar -> Fatestitcher -> Tidewater Minion -> Great Oak Guardian -> Protean Hulk -> unearth Fatestitcher -> sac hulk getting Pili-Pala , Grand Architect , Rootwater Diver and Walking Ballista . It's a lot of cards but you only need 4 mana to to make the line work, which means you play Vannifar one turn and then win the next (since she costs 4).

Brainstorm should be in the deck, and Scroll Rack would be good here.

Also, just in case you weren't aware, you can't use the Pili-Pala / Grand Architect infinite mana loop the same turn you play pili-pala. That's why Thousand-Year Elixir is a nice include - it's another psueudo-haste source.

Huh, that's actually a really interesting combo I hadn't known about. I think it's very workable and cheaply costed, but with one catch. If you're going to run both this and Basalt Monolith + Mesmeric Orb , you're going to want a fair amount of artifact recursion. I put in two more pieces ( Buried Ruin and Rootwater Diver ) just to support the Orb combo. Creature-based combos are nice because they're easy to reanimate without Muldrotha, so definitely make sure you can reliably access your artifacts whether they're in the yard or not. Additionally, the more you focus on LabMan combos, the more important it is to protect those combos against spot removal and counters. If you get interrupted during that combo, you just lose. Good control pieces I've tried for this are Glen Elendra Archmage , Null Brooch , Spiketail Drakeling , and Sylvan Safekeeper .

You're very welcome! Hope your deck does well :)

I see you're going for the ezuri turns hulk. What makes you believe that it's more efficient than Pili-Pala, Grand Architect, Walking Ballista, Rootwater Diver?

Protean Hulk Combo: Protean Hulk + Instant Speed Removal^ + 1 Island (or another blue source) 1. On the end step before your turn, use instant speed removal to kill (not exile) Protean Hulk 2. Search for Pili-Pala, Grand Architect, Rootwater Diver, and Walking Ballista (X = 0) and put them onto the battlefield 3. Walking Ballista goes to the graveyard 4. Your turn begins, move to main phase 5. Generate infinite mana using Pili-Pala and Grand Architect (look up this combo if you don't know it) 6. Sacrifice Rootwater Diver and put Walking Ballista into your hand 7. Cast Walking Ballista for X = 2,000,000,000 8. Remove enough counters to kill your opponents and every creature they have (do creatures first in case they have interaction although you can activate Walking Ballista in response to interaction and if it is your turn you get first priority, so you can still activate him infinitely) 9. Win This combo is good in Animar because Protean Hulk is value even if you can't do the combo. In addition, if you go off with Cloudstone Curio but don't have Purphoros, God of the Forge out, Walking Ballista is an alternative win-con. Also, Rootwater Diver can retrieve a destroyed Cloudstone Curio from your graveyard. Pili-Pala and Grand Architect infinite mana is just good since it is infinite mana.

Telepathy and Deep-Sea Kraken I do not see helping the deck have a better chance to win the game. Telepathy is sure to slow down a game and bring you some strong table hate in my opinion.

Laboratory Maniac as another win con with Frenetic Efreet

Fabricate , Muddle the Mixture or to go find your Thumb?

Fling , Warp World and Disrupt Decorum I would think would be a better fit than Telepathy and Deep-Sea Kraken. They keep up the Chaos theme.

Orcish Captain . Thieves' Auction are filler options as well.

Rootwater Diver , Argivian Restoration, Reconstruction , Junk Diver to return Krark's Thumb. Recoup for sorcery Body Double and remove about 7 lands.

I don't see the image but this is the 7 mana merfolk? I quite like it. Less mana restrictive, no max hand size, and like you said it's a Regal Force.

Could probably incorporate a crude simic FlashHulk combo - grabbing Pili-Pala, Grand Architect, Walking Ballista, and Rootwater Diver.

EDIT: oh there it is.
