My first made from scratch EDH deck, It has a special place in my heart. Friends always shudder in fear when I bring this one to game night because it can lock down the game out of seemingly nowhere.

Rakdos has a bit of an annoying casting condition requiring opponent's to have lost life before it can be cast. The deck has some ways to get this life loss trigger automatically. After Rakdos is cast the deck uses Rakdos' ability to cast lots of big stuff for free or heavily cheapened.

The risk this deck has is keeping the engine going. After the initial splurge of big eldrazi the deck goes in to topdeck mode. A wrath spell usually means game over or a long period of politics to stay alive long enough for the second wave. Because of my low budget I can't afford the usual black tutor package or reanimator staples. so those would be auto-includes to make the deck more consistent.

A good opening hand includes the following: A set of lands or spells that guarantee you have BBRR by turn four to cast Rakdos, A manacost free way to get a lifeloss trigger by turn four: Reatreat to Hagra,Plague Spitter or Rakdos Ickspitter and one or more payoffs, big eldrazi costing around 6 to 10 mana to drop turn five (or four if you give Rakdos haste.)

This deck wins by brute force. Strategically selecting your big payoffs depending on your opponent's decks. You quickly need to evaluate potential threats to your gameplan and take them out first. When in the driver seat use your big creatures as gunboat diplomacy to gain temporary allies but don't be afraid to backstab if you need more lifeloss to cast your spells.

If your meta is very boardwhipe heavy, ration your payoffs to only one or two at a time to prevent stalling out. is your meta is very agressive then play your eldrazy defensively and use Rakdos as a commander damage killer (after all he's a 6/6 trampling flyer)
