Wrecking Ball Discussion

Asturonethoriusaline on Pillage Coats Charm Calamity Boom! T1 LD Primer!

Also speaking of Darth's consistency thing. I am thinking of spliting my 3 Wrecking Ball 's, into 2 Beast Within , and 2 Wrecking Ball , in order to add a 2 of a 3 cmc card that destroys everything, to help the deck, destroy lands turns 1,2,3, more consistently.

Asturonethoriusaline on Ode to Hogaak

Nevermind about my previous question, comment.

I finally found a deck, with Hogaak in it(Casual Deck)

While Hogaak is AWESOME, can get out turns 2,3,4, and win turns 3,4,5,6,consistently.

Grafdigger's Cage , Rest in Peace , Leyline of the Void , take care of Hogaak, Just fine.

And my Land Destruction on turns 1,2,3, with Boom/bust, Pillage , Liquimetal Coating , and Primal Command , and Incendiary Command , would nuke lands on turns 1,2,3, make it harder to get stuff out. Then nuke your 2/2's with incendiary command, so that cant use them to convoke out Hogaak. And use Primal command to shuffle your graveyard back into your libary, then use eternal witness to reuse Primal Command to shuffle your graveyard back into your library again, so rhat you wouldnt be able to use your graveyard to delve Hogaak out.

And even if get Hogaak out, I would just either Wrecking Ball destroy Hogaak, or use Liquid Metal Coatings to turn Hogaak into a Artifact, then destroy him with Oxidize, Pillage, etc.

And with either Charmbreaker Devils or Hoard-Smelter Dragon out, I could destroy Hogaak over and over, pumping Charmbreaker up to a 8 to 12/4 creature, and the dragon up to a 12/5 flying dragon.

Hogaak is easily dealt with, and shouldnt be banned, unless can get him out on turns 1,2 very consistently, which I dont think can be done YET. If that can be done, then he should be banned.

Besides those suggestions, in general you need some removal and fetches. So Kodama's Reach , Realms Uncharted , Explosive Vegetation , Return to Dust , Beast Within , Angel of Despair , Wrecking Ball (just too hilarious not to run), Mystic Melting etc. I know Realms Uncharted is $5 but it's so perfect for four color decks it's scary.

Oh, also, now that you've nixed Torch Fiend , you're a little light on artifact removal. You could swap out Wrecking Ball for Pillage or Violent Impact to remedy that, since your deck is packed with creature removal.

DemonDragonJ on Ravnica Allegiance: Spoilers and Speculation

The new Simic keyword is definitely the least interesting and my least favorite of the three keywords that that guild has had, and I am tempted to dismiss it as merely a copy of monstrous from Theros, but it is slightly better in that it can (theoretically) be used multiple times, with the proper strategies; I do hope that there are at least some creatures that have abilities that trigger when their adapt ability is used (as was the case with various creatures in the Theros block).

Also, bedevil is a seriously awesome card; one more mana over Terminate to be able to destroy artifacts and planeswalkers, or one more mana over Dreadbore to gain instant speed and the ability to destroy artifacts is insanely good, and I definitely shall be purchasing copies of it for my black/red deck, although I shall still keep Wrecking Ball in that deck, because instant-speed land destruction is obviously a very powerful tool to have.

loricatuslupus on HEAVENLY INFERNO - Kaalia of the Vast UPGRADE

Always nice to see another Kaalia deck as she was my first (shameless plug: Still Better than Dan Brown...). Firstly, is that "sideboard" in fact meant to be your wants list? If so, just make your acquireboard public to avoid any confusion! Anyway I'd recommend losing Ancient Hellkite, Mana-Charged Dragon and Victory's Herald. Consider Angelic Field Marshal/Demon of Wailing Agonies/Tyrant's Familiar as you'll usually be getting them out with Kaalia. Speaking of, if you want to stop her getting munched take a look at Dust Corona and Reconnaissance, either of which might be better than Angelic Chorus or Exquisite Blood - good cards, but 5cmc is the spot where you can start thinking about hard-casting creatures and you don't really seem to have any synergistic plays with gaining life (perhaps introduce Krav, the Unredeemed/Regna, the Redeemer combo?). If you can upgrade your package to include Anguished Unmaking and Vindicate over cards like Wrecking Ball then do: unconditional removal is never a dead draw. Finally, Helm of the Host is epic with Kaalia.

Ps, I see you run Armageddon. Depending on who you play with, I would recommend either going all-in on the land destruction by getting more mana rocks and other spells like Cataclysm or dropping it entirely. It can make you very unpopular...

Any creature that doesn't do -1counters is probably worth cutting. Anathemancer, Hand of the Praetors, Mogis, God of Slaughter, Murderous Redcap, Ogre Slumlord, Ob Nixilis Reignited, Wrecking Ball, Veinfire Borderpost are all worth cutting. 4 of them should become land (totals to 37 lands). Others can stay maybe especially the better creatures like mogis or Ob potentially. I say cut Hand of the Praetors because most creatures don't have infect. Wither definitely is better for this deck.

Here is a link to my deck that I play from the Scorpion God. It might give you some good ideas, maybe not.

RedMulligan on Starting in Commander?

So here's a list of the cards that I got for the deck:

However, there's plenty of things I know I need, and some things I might consider (thanks to edhrec.com).Holy crap, that's a lot of cards. What I want to do right now is have Kess play the support role while I tutor up Nekusar to play. As soon as I can start nabbing the wheels for Nekusar's pain, Kess's ability will allow me to cast them back for more wheel-y fun times (for me, at least). That way, people won't realize that this is actually a Nekusar deck: he's hiding, ready to strike! But my biggest problem is discerning which of these 150+ cards I need to whittle down to about 65, and also figure out how many lands I need to play. I've got a little money to spend, and this list is about as far as I'll go cost-wise.
