Planeswalker (1)

Welcome to my 75% version of Narset.

Narset has no friends. I mean this literally and metaphorically. In a multiplayer setting, which I normally play, when you play Narset, Enlightened Master you have to take on all players at once...else they will gang up on you.

If you like this deck, please +1 it

So I want Narset to be hard to Kill, and being that die hard spell slinging damsel that causes distress, without being considered all to unfair (much like Bruce Willis in the Die hard movie franchise)!

What, No Denying?

This deck makes for quick games. This is not a control Narset deck, so no denying, stalling and wrecking other people's games. This is a deck oriented on making Narset, Enlightened Master an unstoppable force. Yes, in many ways this is a voltron deck: it relies on Narset gaining all sorts of abilities and strengths that allow her to take out a player in one stroke through general / commander damage.

Dealing Damage? With a 3/2 Narset?

The idea of this deck is to play as much spells with Narset as possible. Narset, Enlightened Master's ability triggers when attacking. So in order to win through commander damage we have to protect her and make her attack count. Fortunately, she has hexproof...which makes her fearsome as point removal cannot target her.

The deck has many instant spells, allowing you to cast them the moment Narset attacks. Blood Lust (also nice if you target a particular nasty blocker after which Narset can take him down with her first strike), Brute Force , to name but a few.

Stacked with Temur Battle Rage, Double Cleave and the like and you'll swinging for at least 12 points (if you're unlucky), but normally more. Immediate kills when attacking are not uncommon.

Because there are also a spells that provide extra attack steps you can attack again without the above bonuses going to waste: Waves of Aggression (with retrace), Aggravated Assault, World at War, Savage Beating. Extra turns deny you to keep the bonus, but they provide you with so much extras: Time Stretch, Beacon of Tomorrows, Temporal Trespass.

Voltron? What's the deal with the equipment?

Equipment is rather slow. So instead of stacking tons of equipment on Narset: instant spells! (as discussed above)

Still some equipment is very handy to protect her or give her evasion. Notably:

  • Sunforger: gives +4, if that's not enough, you can also search for a double strike cards if you unattach it (you loose the +4 though, but normally that doesn't matter)

  • Darksteel Plate: a plain evil card in this deck

  • Sword of Vengeance: all that awesomeness in one card

  • Also Narset, being a woman, likes good shoes (especially those that provide haste, once you play Narset, you'd better be ready to attack because the table will focus on you): Swiftfoot Boots, Fleetfeather Sandals and such. And she prefers modest jewelry Ring of Valkas

Other artifacts

Enchantments

Those that make her unblockable (most with bonuses), among which: Steel of the Godhead , Unquestioned Authority, Spectra Ward, Holy Mantle and more

Mana and Lands

Narset exiles your lands as you draw them through her ability...so it is key to filter your deck from the lands, which also increases your chances of hitting an instant or extra turn providers: Expedition Map, Thawing Glaciers, Armillary Sphere (but Sensei's Divining Top also helps).

Other mana rocks are: Sol Ring (never leave home without it), Chromatic Lantern, Basalt Monolith, Commander's Sphere, Thran Dynamo, etc.

Additionally: Many of the lands have come into play abilities that either boost Narset further, or prevent combat damage to her.

Removal

You really need to have ended the game before everybody is building up major forces. But in case or emergency (and to secure a win).

Wipes

Blatant Thievery, Mass Calcify, Tragic Arrogance, Divine Reckoning

And some point removal

For creatures: Swords to Plowshares , Reality Shift, Chaos Warp, Crib Swap , Path to Exile, Scour from Existence

For enchantments / artifacts: Orim's Thunder , Revoke Existence

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Ajani Vengeant are also good at removing stuff.

Speaking of removal: you can extra protect Narset with Gift of Immortality

Omissions

Chandra, Pyromaster: Great card. But mainly used for her first ability. So sideboard

Elixir of Immortality: great card against mill decks. Especially since you'll be going fast through your deck as well. So sideboard

Lightning Greaves: gives shroud...means I cannot target Narset either. Can't have that in here

The 'Swords' (Sword of Fire and Ice and such): believe it or not, underwhelming in this deck. I doubt it is worth all the extra attention you receive for playing one
