Wall Supremacy!

I attended the magic 2019 prerelease a while back and it was a ton of fun with my friends. Arcades was a card I’d been interested in and quickly built an EDH deck around him afterwards, it was just too funny. The idea of smacking people in the face with 0/4s made me laugh and as I played it, my friends and I built some janky lore around the deck.

So the idea behind the deck is that walls have been subjugated for millenia and are now putting their metaphorical foot down. With Arcades leading the way, our brick and mortar friends are looking to recruit as many allies to their cause as they can find.

Good ol’ honest creature damage.

These additions cracked me up as I built the deck. They’re the biggest reason I find this deck fun to pilot as I always look forward to drawing them.

  • Mystifying Maze, Maze of Ith - What are mazes but a congregation of walls? (These cards are legitimately terrible in this deck, but I keep them for humor’s sake)
  • Access Tunnel, Rogue's Passage - Walls are sick and tired of being undermined and taken advantage of. No longer will the underhanded tactics and abuse be tolerated! From here on forth, secret tunnels will only ever be accessed by the walls themselves!
  • Grappling Hook - In this deck, the walls grapple you lol
  • Tree of Redemption, The Pride of Hull Clade, Charix, the Raging Isle - Probably the funniest wincons in this deck
  • Sokrates, Athenian Teacher - The leader of our revolution and founder of wall supremacy theory
  • Crashing Drawbridge - The idea of one wall opening up and speed-boosting a bunch of smaller walls made me laugh
  • Propaganda - I liked imagining that, before striking a military base. The walls would send messengers Hiroshima-style like the Americans did with propaganda papers dropped from airplanes flying over
  • True Conviction - In-line for the theme of insurgency lol
  • Glacial Fortress, Hallowed Fountain - The art I chose had towering walls that made me smile
  • Man-lands would have been funny, but in my head, lands like Seaside Citadel are just elderly walls that can’t fight. So they provide resources to their friends

The least interesting part about this deck lol

Having a bunch of big walls is kinda already enough protection but I left some extra just in case :)

Thanks for checking out my primer! I hope you enjoy the deck as much as I did brewing it:)
