How play dragons “correctly”

first turn win (perfect hand example):

ancient tomb, lotus petal, cast "Show and Tell", put "Omniscience" and play potential combo (for example "Sneak Attack", "Hellkite Cruiser", "Old Gnawbone" or "Ancient Copper Hellkite", cast "Time Sieve" or Magda, "Aggravated Assault" etc). GG on first turn.

plan A:

collect 5 mana fastest as u can, cast Hellkite Cruiser - put commander on board with haste, protect him with FoW, Fierce, Deflecting Swat etc. Attack, trigger on stack putting "Omniscience" or other big combo piece on board like "Old Gnawbone", cast from hand or turor for "time sieve" / Agrraved Assault and GG

plan B:

impact tremors on board, cast or put by "sneak attack": "Bladewing the Risen" + "Deceptive Frostkite" make infinite loop

plan C:

single player removal, put "Blast-Furnace Hellkite" on ur-dragon attack trigger with "Ignoble Hierarch" or "Noble Hierarch" trigger make ur-dragon +1/+1 dealing total 21 commander damage

plan D:

lethal damage with "impact tremors" ability and "Twinflame Tyrant", Ureni speeding up this strategy. Zurgo is awesome tool and card advantage - some times u want to return "Clarion Conqueror" or "Deceptive Frostkite" from the battlefield and recast them for free with "Omniscience" or cracking treasures

Why there is no "Roaming Throne"?

I tested and do not recommend, it's to sloow for this deck and mostly time do nothing, better option is "Phyrexian Metamorph" or "Deceptive Frostkite" or "Flesh duplicate" which both can enter as copy of dragon with "impact tremors" ability and of course it's blue, so u can exile them using "Force of Will"

Why "Gilded Drake" and "Clarion Conqueror" ?

Well in fact this two cards is awesome for speed game balance - u should slow down opponent even yourself. U can't win with faster Etali + "Treasonous Ogre", Kinnan + Basalt Monolith combo or Thrasios with "The One Ring", "Gaea's cradle" or "Seedborn Muse". Better option accodring to my exp is to shutdown artifacts and creature abilities (unfortunatley even yours) or steal opponent top commander like "Vivi Ornitier". Worth to mention, that "Savage Ventmaw" will give +6 mana every combat even with "Clarion Conqueror" on board.

How to win?

  • lethal damage / impact tremors trigger
  • Savage Ventmaw + Aggravated Assault = infinite combat
  • Old Gnawbone + Aggravated Assault = infinite combat
  • Ancient Copper Dragon + Aggravated Assault = infinite combat (depends of your dice roll)
  • Cavern-Hoard Dragon + Aggravated Assault = almost infinite combat (depends on number of artifacts your opponents control)
  • generate treasure + Time Sieve = almost infinite turn
  • Ancient Gold Dragon + Dragon Tempest = depends of your dice roll u may kill all enemies
  • Scourge of Valkas + Ancient Gold Dragon = depends of your dice roll u may kill all enemies
  • cast Hellkite Courser, put Old Gnawbone from Ur-Dragon trigger, cast Aggrieved Assault or Time Sieve
  • cast Hellkite Courser, put Blast-Furnace Hellkite or Twinflame Tyrant from Ur-Dragon trigger, attack commander with exalted (from hierarch) and kill opponent by commander dmg
  • "Bladewing the Risen" + "Deceptive Frostkite" + impact tremors effect
  • "show and tell" + "Omniscience" - crazy, scary thing... depending on what you have on hand, probably win the game on same or next turn

** why no Treasonous Ogre ?**

Well, already tested and in my opinion is low value in ur-Dragon.. it's fantastic mana dork in "Etali" but not in 5color decks... even if you cast it on first turn, what i will do with that, pay 6 life to cast "Dragon Tempest" or "Magda" or maybe do nothing because no mono red spells on hand ? Instead I prefer to lockdown opponents with "Clarion Conqueror" and protect him from bounce spells or put it back on battlefield using "Sneak Attack".

why no Boseiju?

In ur-Dragon u don't have time to be a sherif and waiting for opportunity with Boseiju on hand.. u need to play any kind of land card ASAP. To protect against win-con with "Underworld Breach" i preffer "Clarion Conqueror" - it will do the job perfectly.

Best replacement for Boseiju is "Arena of Glory" and "Shifting Woodlands" to speedup your game.
