The deck looks to play it slow, gaining gradual advantage. With a board full of zombies and the scarab god out, you can sit back and let your opponents die, X life at a time. They need to change the game, while you can sit back and react; leaving mana open is good for both the scarab god's ability and counterspells.

Arcane Adaptation helps by making everything a zombie. This helps you scry deeper/drain more, but also synnergies well with liliana, untouched by death, gisa and geralf and rooftop storm.

The deck also has a slight mill theme to it; exiling your own creatures is fine, but we'd much prefer to be exiling resources from the opponents' graveyards. Phenax, Mirko vosk, consuming abberation and Altar of dementia help with this. Self mill is alos useful.
