Sharuum is Accepting Applications for the Combo Train

  • First, I'd like to thank any and everyone who is taking their time to give my deck a look over i hope you like it. Anyway, the point of this deck, as well as the others on this account, is to show the gateway into more competitive commander is not as price locked as it initially appears. This deck as well as the others featured on this account can be built on a $500 dollar budget with the intention of starting you out affordably in competitive EDH.

Why Sharuum

  • To be honest, the reason Sharuum is chosen is because she is a artifact combo piece in the command zone with very few comparisons. (Looking at you Breya) Her biggest advantage, is her ability to be built on a budget compared to Breya without having to neuter her combo potential, as well as having access to a much cheaper mana base.

The Strategy of the Deck

  • The deck has two main strategies. The first is you will be looking to combo off using Sharuum and one of her many loops to kill the entire table. The second main game plan falls back on Emry, lurker of the loch + mirran spy. This is another nice cheap and mana efficient combo we will utilize if Sharuum is somehow unable to close the game out, or if we simply get it early and can cast it before Sharuum could be coming online.

Sharuum Loops

  • Sharuum the Hedgemon + Mirrorworks/ Minion Reflector + Ashnod's Altar/ Krark-Clan Ironworks

  • Sharuum the Hedgemon + Sculpting Steel/ Phyrexian Metamorph + ETB trigger

  • These are the main pieces you will be looking to combo off with Sharuum. The first loop leads to infinite ETB/Death triggers for Sharuum as well reanimating all of the artifacts in her graveyard. The second loop is simply infinite ETB/ Death Triggers.

Emry, the Hedgemon's Secretary

  • Emry, Lurker of the Lock + Mirran Spy + Any 0 CMC Artifact (Lotus petal/ Baubles)

  • This combo results in infinite mana via Lotus Petal, Infinite draw, albeit delayed, via the baubles, using Blasting Station or Phyrexian/ Ashnod's altar + Ornithopter/ Memnite = infinite damage/ Mana. Finally, all of these combos + Altar of the Brood = infinite mill.

End of the Work Day

  • Thank you for checking out this intro to CEDH deck tech for Sharuum, the Hedgemon. This deck is super fun and can really hold its own against a lot of decks on a much higher budget. If you'd like to check out some of the other deck techs on this account, here is a link to a much more creature based combo deck also for under $500 featuring Alehsa, Who smiles at death Alesha's Drag Race
