Sorcery (1)

Have you Been to Hell? No? Well, you just joined Rakdos' party in it! This is a hell themed deck so we have Demons, Devils, Hellkites, Horrors, and more all partying it up in the place they can flay your souls for all of eternity complete with fire and pitchforks to stoke the shreds of your tortured souls! For that reason I want to establish a few things about this deck:

enter image description here

1: Theme trumps efficacy in this deck 9/10 times. For that reason the usual Wurmcoil Engine and Eldrazi are conspicuously absent from this list. They are VERY GOOD and belong in Rakdos but not on theme so neglected.

2: I designed this deck to be intentionally casual and weak because I needed a deck of that variety I'd enjoy playing. For that reason cards such as Necropotence and Razaketh were intentionally left out.

3: This deck condenses my inner Timmy, love of demons, and anti-religious themes into one. It should be a blast! Or an inferno? Hmmmm...

Now that we got all the introductions for your extended stay in Hell let's get onto the activities! Our Devil incarnate is of course Rakdos, Lord of Riots because who else is a black/red demon that makes other demons playable by making them affordable? He isn't a lord but he makes running a deck of 6 drops tenable by reducing their high CMC. However he brings with him his own challenges mostly the HIGHLY irritating "cannot be cast unless an opponent has lost life this turn" clause. This means the deck has to get off to a head start hurting while ramping. That hurting part is one of the need to be worked on weaknesses of this deck because there just aren't cards that exist that meet the stipulations I want at the CMC I want. But I'll get to that later! Once we have the demon lord (not Belzenok!) out we get to smash our opponents and drop baddies which we gave haste. And that's pretty much the deck's goal: beat faces in. Again this deck was designed to compete with VERY low power decks.

So where do we start? Well, land base which is atypical for me. Rakdos has a brutal casting cost so the deck NEEDS colors. For that reason this deck has a mana base with very little utility; instead it runs dual lands up the wazoo, even crappier ones like life lands that ETB tapped just because we need those colors. We only have Sol Ring at the one drop slot because we expect to drop a tapped land turn one. But there is some utility regardless. Leechridden Swamp and Shivan Gorge can injure to let Rakdos dance late game. Flamekin Village grants haste to aid the madness. Path of Ancestry allows scrying when we cast demons which we have as half the creature base. Lastly Bojuka Bog as grave hate and Rogue's Passage for evasion when needed. The land base had to dedicate fully to color production.
