Maybeboard


This is my Kenrith, King of EDH 4-colour deck (almost because it includes good old Dockside Extortionist). The idea is trying to abuse Kenrith's abilities with the pack of "activated abilities cost X less to activate" which are Training Grounds, Biomancer's Familiar, Zirda, the Dawnwaker. So, for a casual high-power game your goal is not to infinitely combo and win, although you can do it if needed.

This deck also has a lot of reanimator stuff. I love sending big creatures (typically with an interesting ETB) to the graveyard to bring them back again and again with Kenrith. Let's not forget that Kenrith can also give them haste and trample if necessary. There are many creatures that activate their ability by sacrificing themselves, which allows you to have them in the graveyard at instant speed to use again when Kenrith revives them. It is very easy to leave all your mana open and pass the turn, to have a more reactive role in the game. And if the turn comes back to you and nothing forced you to use your mana, you can always draw cards with Kenrith or gain life or +1/+1. That's what I like about Kenrith being both a toolbox and a mana sink.

Over time I have discovered that if Kenrith touches the table you have to protect him. God save the king! Because everyone wants to get rid of it. So I include creatures that can give protection to my commander.

If you want to include more combo potential you can add more tutors, or Composite Golem. You would end the game with infinite mana (once you have at least 1 activated abilities reducer). Although with time I am moving away from tutors and infinite combos to play more relaxed.
