MTG Salvation Article with a card-by-card analysis

**

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician is a really unique general because of her activated ability to just poop her onto the battlefield from the command zone being uncounterable and dodging commander tax in the process. So she's a flying 2/3 Bird Wizard that taps or untaps target permanent.

There are many different ways to build Derevi.

This deck evolved over the years into a policeman style draw-go control deck with a Wizard subtheme and with a heavy focus on countermagic, removal, flash, recursion and mana efficiency.

The goal of the deck is to stay alive and take complete control of the game some of the decks synergies:

Forbid in conjunction with a either Azami, Lady of Scrolls or Consecrated Sphinx .

Eldrazi Displacer with Seedborn Muse and Mystic Snake .

Once I have the game under full control, most people concede. Those who don't I just start to beat down reeeeally slowly. It's quite legitimate.

Renegade Rallier is a new addition to the deck. It's great with fetchlands and absolutely bonkers with another new addition Eldrazi Displacer . It can bring back great two-drops like Gilded Drake and Phantasmal Image

Sun Titan and Reveillark are the big daddies in this deck. Sun Titan brings back anything from Aura Shards to Krosan Verge (My favorite Wargate -target in the early game).

Reveillark brings back creatures only but two at the same time. There are a lot of creatures in this deck that are brought back by it. (17 targets in total) and and some of those creatures actually work really well together. ( Thrasios, Triton Hero + Seedborn Muse ?) Or it brings back creatures that recur something themselves, like Eternal Witness or Karmic Guide .

These two are the strongest creatures in the deck (board-position-wise) by allowing you to crawl back from a losing position into a winning one.

Both Riptide Laboratory and Seaside Haven have their respective purposes in the deck. The first one protects your general from Song of the Dryads and similar effect and makes creatures like Snapcaster Mage or Venser, Shaper Savant reusable and the second one ( Seaside Haven ) lets you draw additional cards by sacrificing the general and then bringing her back to untap Seaside Haven .

One of the most fun cards in the deck is actually Ojutai's Command . The reason is that I run a variety of really powerful 2-drops in Snapcaster Mage , Phantasmal Image , Gilded Drake , Qasali Pridemage and others.

Well that's all for now.

Thanks for reading.

Take care, everyone.
