It's Harvest Time

Commander / EDH

Clammster

Maybeboard

Sorcery (1)

I built this deck because I loved the lore for Reaper King. If you haven't read it, long story short, don't mess with treefolk even if they are dead. Currently every card fits the overall theme of the deck, which goes away from the lore such that for my deck, Reaper King becomes so powerful that he believes himself to be a god. Each card helps to tell a story of his incredible power to turn any living creature into an artifact scarecrow, in his own image, all while destroying everything that could ever possibly be a threat to his farms. He eventually drew the attention of wise wizards and artificers who wanted to study his magic and admire him for the powerful artifact that he is. Even card:Jin Gitaxis sent his sphinx to investigate, and Reaper King let all of them join him since he would ultimately convert them all to their new god... To be continued...

I haven't had a chance to play the final version of this deck as I'm still waiting for several cards in the mail. The original version did not have any way to go infinite, while this new version can with the right board state.

The deck wants to ramp into Reaper King as quickly as turn two, then we start destroying crucial permanents on turn three. The key points to our ramp package is having Crucible of Worlds to grab fetch and cycling dual lands from our graveyard as needed, as well as Oracle of Mul Daya because Oracle of Mul Daya is one of my favorite cards and we can use our fetch lands twice each turn.

The deck should win through attrition, while eventually making most of our creatures indestructible and hexproof. Reaper King+ a kicked Rite of Replication vindicates 25 permanents, with Panharmonicon doubling that number to 50 permanents. Once the deck finds a combo that can not be answered, it is likely that we are soon the only player with any permanents left each turn since we can stack the vindicate triggers so that we never target our own permanents. The most fun combo I have used to win has been Zendikar Resurgent+Conspiracy+Urza's Incubator, since it turns out having all our creatures cost two generic mana less to cast is pretty broken when each creature also draws a card and vindicates a permanent.

I took out Mycosynth Lattice since the general consensus of my playgroup was that having all of their permanents destroyed with Mycosynth Lattice+Darksteel Forge+Nevinyrral's Disk wasn't a fun way to lose. So I am replacing it with Arcanis the Omnipotent for more card draw, as well as synergy with Paradox Engine.

Now, it's time those scarecrows defend their farms. They will never let anyone harm any of their precious crops or animals, so for our opponents, "It's Harvest Time."
