Rattleblaze Scarecrow

Artifact Creature — Scarecrow

Rattleblaze Scarecrow has persist as long as you control a black creature. (When this creature is put into a graveyard from play, if it had no -1/-1 counters on it, return it to play under its owner's control with a -1/-1 counter on it.)

Rattleblaze Scarecrow has haste as long as you control a red creature.

Here's another one that looks like it would work well for the consistent persist ability Grumgully, the Generous

So far I would have:

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed Rhythm of the Wild Master Chef Uncivil Unrest Grumgully, the Generous

That's some pretty decent odds of getting recurring Persist creatures! Oh yes, I also added two scarecrows to the list, Rattleblaze Scarecrow as well as Wingrattle Scarecrow. a bit on the mana heavy side, but they should help.

I've also updated the list to show some changes, such as the removal of the tutors and some other tweaks.

darkmage2003 on How Does Pure Reflection Work?

Does Pure Reflection work when creatures ETB or when creatures are cast?

For instance: I cast a Rattleblaze Scarecrow (and create a 6/6 Reflection token), then sac Rattleblaze to Ashnod's Altar. Due to its persist ability, Rattleblaze dies and immediately returns with a -1/-1 counter. Would I then destroy the previously made 6/6 reflection token and create a new one or does it only work on cast?

You really want to pump up Judith's ping ability? How about some poison? Grafted Exoskeleton , Glistening Oil , and Phyresis will make judith a scary lady. you can cast Tainted Strike in response to a board wipe to more than likely kill a player.

On the subject of getting more out of your creatures, try some of the undying or persisting creatures. Geralf's Messenger , Pyreheart Wolf , Flayer of the Hatebound , and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed will come back stronger. the other side of that, Murderous Redcap , Furystoke Giant , Puppeteer Clique , Thunderblust , and Rattleblaze Scarecrow all come back weaker, but come back for free, which is nice.

Other than that, I agree with a lot of what multimedia suggests.

Update: The infinite combo is now Reaper King + Panharmonicon OR Aura Shards + Metallic Mimic + Wingrattle Scarecrow OR Rattleblaze Scarecrow. Basically, I destroy everyone's things by repeatedly cycling an infinitely persisting scarecrow in and out of the graveyard using the extra destroy trigger.

oh geeze, forgot about mechano spiders and manakin.

Bosh, Iron Golem fits if you wanted to keep with the legendary idea I mentioned for manakin, the idea of destroying another tinkerer's work for gain. Hex Parasite falls into a symilar vein, along with Psychosis Crawler and Myr Welder. perhaps Pentavus for the whole shooting off parts and recoiling them?

Noxious Gearhulk, Solemn Simulacrum, and Rattleblaze Scarecrow fit for mechano-spiders

@n0bunga: Thanks for the input but I think I will pass on that one. Most times I don't end up casting Reaper King because I plan to win without him. The only reason he is the commander over say, Child of Alara or another 5 color Commander is because of Persist Scarecrows like Wingrattle Scarecrow and Rattleblaze Scarecrow allowing me to go infinite with his ability if I have to. I would much rather run the two cards suggested by DaftVader above because they make the rest of my persist creatures work with Reaper King. The only time he is cast is when I can combo with him.

Like the deck! I saw the spoiler on this, and I was super pumped about an EDH deck, as well. Something I noticed about The Scorpion God is that even if it's a centerpiece to the deck, you probably don't need the hexproof or shroud from the shoes. You can have it go to your graveyard, instead of command zone, and you can cast it from your hand for 5. If your library is exiled, you have to pay commander tax, but that's the only scenario, so it's really not that bad if it dies. You've got a ton of card draw, and you'll probably kill Anger with your own cards the turn or two after it comes down, so I'd replace both Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots with Anger. I haven't put together a decklist, but some of my considerations I didn't see here are Everlasting Torment, Cauldron of Souls, Grief Tyrant, Harbinger of Night, Hateflayer, Puppeteer Clique, Sickle Ripper, Soul Snuffers, Soul-Scar Mage, Thunderblust, Tourach's Chant, Throne of Geth, Volt Charge, Archfiend of Ifnir, Fang Skulkin, Fevered Convulsions, Rattleblaze Scarecrow, and Serrated Biskelion.
