Rishadan Brigand

Creature — Human Pirate

Flying

When Rishadan Brigand enters the battlefield, each opponent sacrifices a permanent unless he or she pays (3).

Rishadan Brigand can block only creatures with flying.

i would take out Contract Killing and replace it with alot of cheaper two mana kill spells like Doom Blade or Heartless Act or Go for the Throat . for it's cost Prying Blade is just not that good. id also go up to at least 36 lands, 35 is way too low. Boarding Party , Brazen Freebooter , and Prosperous Pirates also seem pretty weak in the deck. But the deck has decent draw and removal/interaction, and alot of spells make treasures as a byproduct for flavorful ramp too which is great

Rishadan Cutpurse , Rishadan Footpad , and Rishadan Brigand might also be cool inclusions but they aren't from ixalan so i dont know if you want them for flavor reasons

Not many people i have met know about Rishadan Brigand. It seems on brand for the deck you are building. Love the deck+1 from me.

Have you tried Rishadan Footpad, Rishadan Cutpurse amd/or Rishadan Brigand? Skyclave Apparition would work well in this list too.

I am building this dek as well and I noticed the Rishdan Pirates seem pretty good. Rishadan Footpad | Rishadan Cutpurse | Rishadan Brigand

So Rishadan Cutpurse, Rishadan Footpad and Rishadan Brigand are all pirates. I've always been successfully annoyed when an opponent plays them against me.

I suggest running 2-drop rocks over 3-drops. I think you should run cards like Rakdos Signet over Obelisk of Grixis. I think Talisman of Indulgence, Talisman of Dominance and Talisman of Creativity are probably better than the signets though.

Snap seems better than Depths of Desire.

Dack Fayden is probably a good fit for this deck. He's powerful and a thief (sorta a land-pirate, I guess).

Ponder and Preordain belong in any blue deck, including this one. Brainstorm is good if you get fetch-lands, but I wouldn't run it unless you have fetch lands.

Spectral Sailor is a good way to sink extra mana. Dockside Extortionist is good for getting mana.

Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora are good draw-engines.

I think Bribery is worth including. Also Coastal Piracy.

The cuts are going to depend on how much you're willing to compromise flavor. Captain's Hook, Prying Blade, Fell Flagship and Dusk Legion Dreadnought seem like good cuts. There're also a bunch of creatures you can cut for better ones or to get down to a hundred cards: Brazen Buccaneers, Crafty Cutpurse, Rigging Runner, Siren Lookout, Slippery Scoundrel and Talas Warrior. I don't think they do enough to be included.

That's all I got -- hope this helped.

SufferFromEDHD, first off your username is awesome. I like the idea of adding Recruiter of the Guard , but its a pricey card that can only grab maybe five cards in the deck, so I don't know if its worth it. I really like Rishadan Brigand , so i might cut Elite Guardmage for it, thanks for that. Lumbering Battlement in honestly an amazing card. I added it on a whim, and it does a lot more work than you would think: it discourages and protects against board wipes and lowers the amount of blink effects needed for the most value. There's been times I've been able to tuck a few good creatures under it and blink it with Deadeye Navigator a couple times and completely take over the table. I try to only exile half my creatures with it, and I've found most won't bother wiping the board, since you'll still get value and have a better board state once they do. Try it, it might surprise you. Cheers.
