Rishadan Footpad Discussion

UUUUmage on Need to get Muldrotha more ...

I've wanted to try a stax deck. But there's a muldrotha in my pond so I've put it in the backburner. Maybe the idea will resonate with you!

I wanted to use Pendrell Mists, Rishadan Cutpurse, Rishadan Brigand, Rishadan Footpad and Mystic Remora type stuff to tax and grind people down.

Megalomania Thanks for the feedback. I see what you mean and have to admit i didn't spot that problem early enough. I tend to forget that most blink cards target things I control, not own. I am still keen to keep the steal theme going though likely as a sub-theme to support a main blink theme. My game plan with stealing is to play a game of attrition through the blink theme and incrementally add value to my board by stealing other things. That said, I have only recently gotten the cards for the deck so ill know better how it plays out once i pilot it awhile.

Parallax Wave completely slipped my mind and will definitely add that to the deck. I also saw your Aminatou stax list and am considering putting in Rishadan Cutpurse and Rishadan Footpad (Rishadan Brigand is a little pricier but might consider it) for a bit more control.

For one-sided stax, I use creatures like Rishadan Footpad, Rishadan Cutpurse and Rishadan Brigand. They don’t look like much but when you’ve got cards like Winter Orb and Blind Obedience in play, they work quite well in cutting everyone down to size.

Add mass flicker effects like Eerie Interlude and Parallax Wave to achieve an even more devastating effect.

Megalomania on Aminatou Budget Control

I’m not very good with budget decks but I think the following cards would be great here:

Flicker Effects - Ghostway, Ghostly Flicker, Eerie Interlude, Felidar Guardian

Manifest - Mastery of the Unseen

ETB Effects - Rishadan Footpad, Rishadan Cutpurse, Rishadan Brigand, Oath of Jace, and Archaeomancer

Utility - Oath of Teferi and Panharmonicon

I’m also building a similar deck. Maybe you can take a look at it so we can exchange ideas.

Building a deck with a similar but more stax-oriented game plan. I’m using cards like Winter Orb, Blind Obedience and Tangle Wire to slow opponents down while creatures like Rishadan Footpad chip away from their board presence until they have nothing left. Hope you can find some time to check my list out. I believe you’ll find a lot of cards there that you can use here.

In my list, I used cards like Rishadan Footpad, Rishadan Cutpurse and Lavinia of the Tenth. You can check my list out if you want. :)

Got the same build. Kept the cmc and power of creatures low so I can start wrecking the board early. Added cards like Rishadan Cutpurse, Rishadan Footpad and Rishadan Brigand plus some stax pieces to give it a more competitive theme.

Zam_Ogan on No Friends Brago (EDH)

Hello! I like your list, I play a couple variations of Brago myself and absolutely love him. I do have a couple of suggestions that might help.

I'd consider removing these cards:

Tsabo's Web - It's an okay stax card, but it just doesn't do enough to warrant a slot IMO. I would much rather run a tutor or a harder stax/hate piece here.

Voltaic Key - If you were running Grim Monolith and/or Mana Vault I would better understand why this is in here, but as it is it doesn't do much. I ran this in an early version of Brago, I swapped it out for Rings of Brighthearth for infinite mana instead.

Brave the Elements - This is neat and cheap to cast, but is too niche IMO. I would rather run either another counterspell to stop my board from being wiped, or something like Eerie Interlude to bypass it.

Dragonlord Ojutai - This is SUPER slow. I used to run Cloudblazer Which is similar, but I swapped that out recently for Curator's Ward for the same draw + Brago protection, which has worked with decent success.

Inquisitor Exarch - I absolutely love this card, I ordered a foil version as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything unless you're going infinite with Strionic, at which point you should already be winning the game anyway.

I'd consider changing:

Rishadan Brigand - I agree that this is super strong. However, it's very expensive to cast. This card has the strongest version of this effect which is wonderful, however if your plan with this is to go infinite with Strionic Resonator, it's better to run Rishadan Cutpurse instead. (Maybe you could throw in Rishadan Footpad too for backup, why not!)

Authority of the Consuls - Entering tapped effects are wonderful, but this is by far the weakest version. I would reccomend swapping this out for Blind Obedience so it hits artifacts too, plus you can tutor for this from Muddle the Mixture, OR for the ultimate lock with Stasis, swap it for Frozen AEther/Kismet.

Detention Sphere - Fantastic effect, but for the same cost you could swap this for Grasp of Fate which is strictly better.

Oath of Jace - Another fantastic effect, but personally I would rather pay 1 more mana to play Trial of Knowledge and keep 2 cards in hand per ETB.

Take a look at my deck lists when you get a chance, I'm happy to discuss!
