My approach to a dragon tribal with the Ur-dragon in command

All help is welcome since this is a work in progres. I often find myself archenenemy once the Ur-dragon leaves his quiet mountaintop. So I'm trying to maximize my build.

The deck primarily focusses on 3 things:

• early ramp and colourfixing • maintaining my boardstate • teaming up dragon-effects

Ramp:

My ramp consist out of several factors. The first one is having the correct landbase. Most of my lands come in untapped and give me acces to atleast 2 colours. Although triomes enter tapped they do give acces to three landtypes.

With this mind it's important to choose the right ramp spells. Cultivate and/or kodama's reach are cheap but limited. Three visits and farseek are better because they give acces to almost any of my lands. Not to forget skyshroud claim which gives you untapped lands.

My creature ramp is humble because I like to leave room for my dragons and their effects. So I've chosen for bloom tender, rivaz of the claw and Dragonlord servant.

Bloom tender no doubt is very usefull. Rivaz on the other hand helps to cast my expensive dragons and helps me to rebuild after a boardwipe. Dragonlord servant speaks for itself as it's effect is simply dragon's cost reduction.

My artifact ramp is based upon 2 things. Either giving me lots of uncolored without losing too much mana or providing me with a colourfixing effect.

Cards such as manacrypt, sol ring and mox amber can be game makers on turn one. Whereas chromatic lantern turns my lands into any colour of my choice.

Heralds horn and urza's incubator both give me a reduction on the expensive dragons. While fist of suns can be combinated with morophon for free dragons! Yes you heard it right ! FREE DRAGONS! :)

Honorable mention: Mirari's wake.

Not entirely ramp as it does not provide me with extra land cards in play. But left unchecked it can certainly tip the scales in my favor.

Maintaining my boardstate:

As I mentioned earlier my deck tends to draw lots of attention once I start to put my dragons on the battlefield. Most of them have terrifying effects on their own but in combination with their brethren in arms they could be devastating. Therefore I need to protect them as wel as my artifacts who are putting them there.

That's why I've chosen to not only play teferi's protection but also heroic intervention.

Alternative formes of protection are off course my 2 counterspells as they could interrupt any removal or destruction.

stealing the win:

  • dragon overrun with either Tiamat or the Ur-dragon.

  • cyclonic rift, crux of fate or kindred dominance for a single sided board wipe

I'm always happy to hear your comments or critiques as it comes to the build.

Also don't hesitate to ask me any question regarding dragon tribal or other MTG related topics.

Have fun as I will

Thanks!
