Commander / EDH GWU (Bant)

Moving through the gauntlet, and I finally came around to building Bant. My problem, however, is that most bant commanders are actually pretty broken, and I didn't want a super aggressive build, or a stax deck (which the Bant commanders tend to push you toward). Then I thought of my FTV: Jenara. She's an intriguing commander, in that she's somewhat innocuous, yet can kill on her own, but is also fairly generic. She doesn't urge you toward any specific archetype, except for possibly a counters-matter deck. Adding to this, I had not yet built a superfriends deck, and I decided that it was high time I did so. The irony of having a superfriends build as the 'less powerful' deck archetype is not lost on me either (lol - And yes, I did briefly think about modifying this into Atraxa as soon as she got spoiled, but I pretty immediately got bored with the idea). Then, however, the partner commanders for the Commander 2016 set were spoiled, and I got to thinking - I was running Jenara just for the colours, so why not just choose a Bant partner combination, one with some generic useful utility that I would actually want from the command zone? The card that first got me thinking about this was Thrasios - he draws and fixes my mana consistently (something this deck desperately needs and wants). I felt that I would want him in the deck anyway, and figured having a consistent 2-drop creature in my command zone to protect my early walkers would be valuable. As for his partner, I thought about Sidar Kondo, since he makes many of my tokens unblockable, but between the anti-synergy with Kiora and the fact that the Ajanis (and Elspeths)tend to boost my team, I realized he wasn't a good fit. Ishai though - Ishai makes my opponents think twice about casting spells, eats up removal that would otherwise go to a walker, and is a threat all their own, meaning that I have a little more oomph once it becomes archenemy (As superfriends games so often go)
