The last we ever heard of Gix was his plummet into a rip in reality. Until now, we didn't know what happened to him.
But now we do.
Gix was able to use his power to escape, but in the process had to be morphed into a new creature. He tried to find the closest creatures he could to the Phyrexians: The Slivers. Mindless creatures all furthering each other in a great machine-like process. Gix became a sliver and spread the word of Yawgmoth to his people. He now drives them all towards their greater goal, but ever slowly further towards Urborg, the Tomb of Yawgmoth. For he knows the Yawgmoth is not dead, but merely comatose. He will bring back his fallen leader, and let him see the perfection that is the slivers. They are so close. They can see the tomb on the other side of the swamp. But three other legendary beings stand in Gix's way, trying to stop him from unleashing the ancient death cloud. But Gix has no care: No matter which beings they are, Gix will smash through all of them.
Sliver Hivelord: Gix has returned. And we will stop all who would oppose him. The process of near death has made him obsessed with immortality, and his new sliver form has allowed him to do it, and to bring his other slivers to it as well via the glory of Phyrexians. When he's here, he begins chants to begin waking Yawgmoth. His unconscious cloud of death will shield Gix's forces from anything that could slay them, so that nothing may still him from the return of the Ineffable. Hail Phyrexia! The slivers will one day be mechanical, but for now, they are just as powerful in the flesh!
Each Sliver that's played represents Gix's newest experimentation with Sliver genetics. When the prototype proved itself proper, he augments all other slivers with its qualities. Wow, all this talk about evolution and advancement... Simic must have been inspired by Phyrexia... Noncreature spells are usually the work of Yawgmoth, aiding Gix in his mission to bring back the god of perfection.
Adaptive Automaton: This is not to say machines no longer have purpose; machines are still the ultimate forms of existence, and one day the slivers will make their way to New Phyrexia and join the Phyrexians already there. And some machines will aid us in the meantime. Naming Sliver, it will take on the form of the slivers, and it itself will spread the perfection of machines to them, making them ever stronger.
Ancient Ziggurat: The primordial building from Alara has helped furhter life forms for ages. But now it aids the greatest life forms of all. Mana of any color to help bring out Gix himself.
Arid Mesa: MANA!
Asceticism: Yawgmoth aids from outside the battle in more ways than just defending them from death. He shields them from EVERYTHING. Nothing will be able to target them. And if Gix has retreated to the Command Tower to plan instead of being on the battlefield, it will allow them to regenerate even still.
Badlands
: MANA!
Barbed Sliver
: Phyrexians have always been known for having tons of barbs and spines all over them. They're intimidating, they deflect arrows, they can do equal damage to melee attackers, and of course, the more blades the better.
Basal Sliver: Yawgmoth shields the slivers from death in battle. But he will not stop them sacrificing themselves for the good of Phyrexia. Higher amounts of mana lead to the dropping of even fatter Slivers. Phyrexia is a machine of many parts, and some parts must be destroyed to make way for better ones.
Battering Sliver
: Slivers are completely loyal. They do not stay back due to fright, pain, exhaustion or even the basic laws of physics regarding forces slowing down after plowing through several corpses. They'll just keep going and strike their opponents valiantly.
Battle Sliver: Gix's magic has allowed the slivers to grow additional arms with which to strike all the harder. A new form as a sliver has not weakened him, but in fact made him stronger! Nothing will stop the onslaught now.
Bayou: MANA!
Bazaar of Baghdad
: Gix has been able to reconstruct some interplanar portals. One of which has reached our plane, right to Earth. He has conquered the Illuminati, and now controls the entire world, without our knowledge. Controlling all trade routes on the planet, he chooses to obtain his resources from Baghdad for economical reasons.
Belligerent Sliver
: As Gix says "No one can stop the Slivers!" And he meant that literally. Even a being such as Emrakul, the Aeons Torn needs help to block these creatures. Assuming it was legal... Muahaha.
Blade Sliver
: As previously mentioned, the more swords the better.
Bloodstained Mire: MANA!
Blur Sliver: Slivers used to be creatures that adapted to burrowing through stone. They needed immense strength to get anywhere quickly when doing that. And now on the surface with much less resistance, these built-up muscles allow for superspeed through much less dense substances.
Bonescythe Sliver
: One of the greatest developments done by GIx. The slivers have obtained hyperdexterity. They now attack by whirling in a tornado of fangs, blades and whatever other weapons have been added to the great machine.
Bonesplitter Sliver: Gix has taught the Slivers some abilities of some twisted form of occult martial arts, focussed completely on the crippling of your opponents and shattering of their bones. Poor things. If only they were metal...
Brass Herald
: A golem from Phyrexia, it is an advisor, an assistant per se, to Gix. It helps brainstorm ideas on new developments of the slivers, and it itself spreads small amounts of
Glistening Oil
to them, increasing their power.
Brood Sliver
: One of Phyrexia's advantages has always been outnumbering the opponent. Gix has developed some new technology. The blood of his rivals can be turned into Glistening Oil, with which to store in vats and grow new slivers.
Cavern of Souls: Ah yes, the Caves of Koilos. Where Phyrexia was originally sealed. The Slivers have now conquered it, and turned it into a place in which to store new vats and Birthing Pods. They are no longer summoned: They are born. Countermagic cannot stop the natural process of the Phyrexian Slivers.
Chromatic Lantern: "New sources of mana power the Machine Orthodoxy."
--Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Praetor of the White Faction.
Phyrexians can now extract wshite mana from Swamps, blue mana from Mountains, and all of the other strange mana combinations. And this relic itself can grant us mana to further the Sliver horde.
City of Brass: Life force is a small price to pay for perfection. The legendary city of brass will get us whatever kind of mana whenever we need it, and a very small price.
Coat of Arms: Patriotism has lead Phyrexia, and America, to an obsession with power. THe slivers are all loyal to each other, and their loyalty shall prove themselves to have the Might of Phyrexia after all.
Command Tower
: Gix spends a lot of his time in this grand tower, planning out his next strategic move. The tower has been built to be more efficient than any natural land, and will give any mana, whenever needed. Gix's innovation is unending.
Constricting Sliver
: We will capture our rivals. We will not kill them, lest they be brought back by an opponent's Necromancy. Their commander will escape if we try such a thing, but this will still keep it away, so that by the time it has returned, well... It's already dead.
Crystalline Sliver: Gix has lead his slivers to new heights. The opponents will never be able to touch them. They will not trade their Swords to Plowshares, nor shall they
Perish
, from the cross of Yawgmoth's cloud and Gix's innovation. The Izzet? HA! They're mere neanderthals compared to our genius.
Damnation: BEHOLD THE MIGHT OF PHYREXIA! TREMBLE AT OUR MIGHT! COLLAPSE TO YOUR KNEES IN DESPAIR! EMBRACE PERFECTION!
And then they died. Every single one of them. FOr the fact is that when Yawgmoth is angered, his death cloud slays all. Except of course, for his allies, who he already shields as long as Gix (Sliver Hivelord) is in play. (4 MANA PLAGUE WIND WHEE~)
Day of Judgement
: Great Yawgmoth is the true god. His power is limitless. He smites the sinful ones of flesh, but spares the slivers, which have already been made indestructible by his own power.
Declaration of Naught: Yawgmoth grows tired of this nonsense. He names one of the opponents' commanders, stopping them from synergizing properly. Their creatures will have no strategy without one to lead them.
Diffusion Sliver: Phyrexia has never been above deception and trickery. Our opponents will have to spend extra mana to be able to hit any of our creatures, who seem to shimmer as ripples in spacetime. No matter, they'll be dead before they can.
Door of Destinies: The Slivers have not only obtained some of the Glistening Oil, but they now spread it to each other, each one becoming stronger for each one of them there is.
Essence Sliver
: Gix has become obsessed with never dying, and this creation will insure he never dies. Each of the slivers' strikes now helps to aid their master in leading them, which helps them aid their master.... It's a beautiful cycle as eternal as the perfection of Phyrexia.
Firewake Sliver: Slivers are willing to die to power each other. This helps for Commander damage. If Gix does 21 or more damage to anyone, the Glistening Oil will do the rest, and they will perish eternally. They shouldn't be afraid, for they will soon be brought back as a soldier to serve our noble cause.
Flagstones of Trokair: MANA! And because Armageddon is a thing, this will make sure we're not totally mana screwed if that happens.
Flooded Strand: MANA!
Fungus Sliver
: Gix has modified some of the Glistening oil to create the growth of Phyrexian fungus beneath the skin. If these creatures are attacked, the attacker will learn their lesson. Upon exposure to sunlight, the fungus will begin to grow rapidly, in turn strengthening the muscles of the sliver, making it only stronger the harder you try to fight it.
Fury Sliver: Like
Bonescythe Sliver
, this one turns your slivers into tornadoes of claws and fangs, which yuour opponents will be unable to stop. even if they try, oops, indestructible.
Gaea's Cradle: The time of feeble gods such as Gaea is over. Let a new age of Phyrexian gods arise! THe only thing she had useful was the cradle, through which massive amounts of green mana can flow through. We will seize it, and use it to further the Great Evolution.
Galerider Sliver
: The slivers, like the Phyrexians have always been above all their opponents. But now, this is literal, soaring over their defenses to go right for throat. Wing additions have allowed for an airborne armada of creatures that once blindly burrowed underground.
Gemhide Sliver: New Phyrexian fixtures made by Gix now allow slivers to create mana of their own, helping to further the progress of their own kind greater than any way before.
Groundshaker Sliver: Frankly, us Phyrexians have never cared what kind of defenses our opponents have put up. And neither do the slivers. Trample allows us to simply go right through them and strike the core directly.
Hammerheim: Phyrexia doesn't allow any threats to its supremacy to exist. When we draw from all sources of mana, a common problem is their ability to move through our lands, striking us too fast for the slivers to react. But we will starve them of this ability. If you want to fight, you'll have to fight fair. But we on the other hand are free to cheat, because we are perfect by nature.
Harmonic Sliver: The vocal chords of the Slivers have been manipulated by Gix to now emit very precise frequencies. These frequencies can shatter glass, break metal and even dispel magic.
Heart Sliver: Gix has increased the speed of the slivers. They can now move fast enough to reach the battlefield from the nest, hitting the ground running, charging right for the hearts of our pathetic enemies.
Homing Sliver: Not all of Gix's ideas go to use. Some of his technological ideas must be scrapped to avoid wasting time. But this clears his mind, to allow room for even greater ideas to arise. This will usually grab Sliver Overlord, who will in turn use his ability to tutor
Shadow Sliver
and/or
Bonescythe Sliver
/ Fury Sliver. At that point, it's game.
Horned Sliver: The horns first seen on demons created by Yawgmoth back in the time of the Thran now return to the Slivers, allowing them to simply move through opponents like butter, doing little to stop them from smashing the opposition.
Jace, the Mind Sculptor: By implanting him with a Phyrexian Skullclamp, we have taken control of the mind mage's mind. Huh. Ironic. This planeswalker is a staple in all formats it's legal in. Scries, Fateseals, BHrainstorms, Unsummons, and of course, his ultimate is legendary.
Karona, False God
: This ancient entity was blesssed to see Yawgmoth. And in seeing his glory, along with some "tampering" by GIx, she's sided with us. Naming Sliver gives us a much higher advantage than our opponent will ever have from her.
Leeching Sliver: Gix has implanted parasitic organs into the slivers. They can now do damage just by attacking, let alone the actual strike.
Life's Finale
: The feeble resistance of the flesh is over. Phyrexia spreads its shadow over all. Slivers are already Phyrexian, and are therefore immune to death via Yawgmoth's power. So Yawgmoth uses the rest of his power to annihilate all the others in play, then prevent the existence of some that never existed at all.
Magma Sliver
: This is Gix's favorite addition. By adding the power of fire's passion and rage to the slivers, the slivers can add their own force of will to the strikes of one another. Their souls leaving their bodies (Becoming tapped) to power another one, these can all focus on Gix if one chooses, who likely has Trample as well. Death by Commander damage is quite possible. And all at instant speed! Hail Gix!
Manaweft Sliver: But if damage is not needed, then they can simply provide mana instead. By infusing mana-creating cells into them, they can focus to create new mana to power the rest of their hive.
Marsh Flats: MANA!
Megantic Sliver
: This is a HUGE boost to your slivers. Phyrexians have long understood the power of size, and are now expanding the size of all slivers exponentially. As the titanic slivers smash everything they loved, they'll regret not surrendering when they had the chance.
Mesmeric Sliver
: By adding more blood vessels to the sliver's scales, they can now flush blood of different colors into them, creating hypnotic powers to numb the opponent's mind. Gix, whether on the battlefield or watching from his tower, can control some of their thoughts as to never remember that spell. They won't even remember NOT remembering it.
Might Sliver
: THis is the simple law of nature. The strong win, and the weak are either food or slaves for the strong. And the slivers are the strongest, only below the Phyrexians. For now they are slaves, but they will soon ascend to our equal. You, on the other hand, will merely be food.
Minamo, School at Water's Edge: Gix does not merely chose between slaughtering the inferiors ones, and defending the slivers from some theoretical threat. Now he does both. He attacks, and when the opponent forgets that your slivers tap for mana, he untaps and blocks, killing their massive fatty they hoped to kill you with.
"Your first mistake was thinking I'd let you live long enough to make a second one."
Misty Rainforest: MANA!
Mutavault: The only sliver manland. Here are some other fun things that Mutavault is:
Mutant Ninja Turtle
Eldrazi Ninja
Hippo Squirrel God Flagbearer
Goblin Advisor
Soldier Warrior Berserker Samurai Coward (So much courage, then WHAM!)
Help me think of more in teh comments!
Necrotic Sliver: There are some deaths that Yawgmoth won't (Note that's not CAN'T; he can do anything) prevent. For they die serving Phyrexia by annihilating any threat the opponents possess. This is another of Gix's favorite creations, allow us to smash down anything in our way.
Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers: Because Sliver Legion is never fat enough.
Opaline Sliver: Even if they do find a way to target our Slivers, Gix won't care, he'll just let us draw more cards.
Planar Cleansing: When Yawgmoth deems a place unworthy, he annihilates it, just as he does here. SInce our deck is basically all creatures, and all our creatures are indestructible thanks to the power of Yawgmoth and Gix, we simply don't care. ALl of their stuff will be gone, allowing us time to pick them off before they can recover.
Plateau: MANA!
Polluted Delta: MANA!
Predatory Sliver: Giix has amplified the hunger of the Slivers, giving them all the more incentive to fight with all their Phyrexian might. Right in the early game they come hungry,, and they won't be satisfied until they've eaten 3 legendary creatures... Or planeswalker commanders, I guess.
Psionic Sliver
: Gix has given the gift of telepathy to the slivers, allowing them to gather together orbs of glistening oil from deep within their hive and throw it at others. This can damage themselves, but when they're indestructible, we don't care anyways.
Pulmonic Sliver
: Gix has bloated their lungs and caused them to filter out the need for heavier gases, leaving only lighter ones. This allows them to fly in the air, and, with some practice, fly around with an eagle's swiftness. If Gix isn't there, they can breathe in some of Yawgmoth's cloud, blowing it into the dead slivers alongside them, resurrecting them shortly.
Quick Sliver
: The Quick Sliver lies in waiting, seeking oiut the perfect time to leap up and strike. Unpredictable. Versatile. Perfect. It will also communicate to other slivers, allowing them employ similar tactics.
Quilled Sliver
: I told you: NEEDS MORE SPIKES! The slivers not only have more of them, but can actually shoot them out when a target is close enough. THis is especially fun when they declare blockers, we kill it, and the rest gets through because of trample. Whee!
Reflex Sliver
: Gix has improved the reflexes of the slivers, allowing them to instantly make their way to the battle. Their fates are sealed: The slivers of Phyrexia will prevail.
Savannah: MANA! Hey, it rhymes...
Scalding Tarn: MANA!
Scrubland
: MANA!
Sentinel Sliver
: Metallic implants in the sliver's minds allow GIx to give instant signals on when to attack and retreat, retreating after attacking but before becoming tapped. Phyrexians have this way to create their metallic version of Vigilance. After a fullout assault we'll no longer be open. We'll still have all our defenses up.
Shadow Sliver
: Which translated into MTG terminology reads "Unblockable." This is among the greatest of slivers when it comes to combat, and at 3 mana insures we're swinging for huge unblockable amounts right from the start.
Shizo, Death's Storehouse: Slivers have always been adept at striking fear into the hearts of others, but now they have been able to do it to the point where only the most dark and corrupt can stop the well-known ones, But even they are powerless against such beings as Gix and the Sliver Queen.
Sinew Sliver: Increased muscle mass has allowed for higher strength in all of our slivers. Simply another bonus to our already-invincible sliver army.
Sliver Hive
: Yessssssss.... Our home. Any colored mana for our slivers, to bring any of them out. For those that aren't slivers, our power reaches out to even they. And the hive is the birthing place of all our slivers. It won't be long before our homeland brings forth the ultimate legion with which to destroy all who would try to defeat us.
Sliver Legion: BEHOLD! THE INCARNATION OF SLIVERS THEMSELVES! When the time is nigh to finally destroy all who would stand against us, the Sliver Legion is our final weapon. The legion echoes all the clicks of the hive, and Gix casts spells to turn the echoes into real slivers. The army is complete. This is our royal guard. Our secret weapon. When it arrives, none will stop us. Oh wait, Doom Blade it! Oh right, black... Vindicate! Oh right, indestructible.. Utter End! Oh wait, Asceticism... Yeah, I scoop.
Sliver Overlord: The true master. The original lord of all slivers before Gix came still has his uses. He creates the new slivers not with technology and magic such as Gix, but natural adaption, letting us grab all the slivers we want. And if they have Slivers too, they'll quickly see that we have their master, and they'll join us, joyfully reuniting with their master. If the oppoonent is also playing slivers and they have an Overlord, and try to steal our slivers... Oops, Asceticism. He's truly a fatherly figure, beneath only Yawgmoth himself.
Sliver Queen: The mother of all slivers. She is here to create more of them. To truly expand our vast army beyond the reaches of infinite. She will help our swarm gain number and progress all the further.
Sorin Markov
: Yes,we have also controlle dthe mind of the legendary vampire planeswalker. He can destroy their creatures giving us life, reduce their life total from their 200 via life gain down to 10 ready to die, and of course, to make others join the hivemind, Lightning Bolting themselves and attacking the other opponents.
Steely Resolve: Silly mortals. DOn't you understand that the slivers are unstoppable? And fused with the Phyrexian perfection, they are beyond even that? You cannot hope to defeat them. They are perfect. Your Doom Blades, Lightning Bolts and Fireballs merely deflect off our glorious swarm.
Taiga: MANA!
Temple of the False God: MANA!
The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
: Pendrell Vale is a mysterious place where mana has different laws. Mages must keep putting mana into their summoned creatures or they will die. However, Gix (Sliver Hivelord) doesn't care for such things as death. Our creatures immune, wheras the opponent will have to pay mana to keep their creatures, which stops them from playing anything else with which to try to defeat us. Not that they could in the first place: Now it's just overkill.
Tropical Island: MANA!
Tundra: MOAR MANA!
Underground Sea: YOU CAN'T HANDLE ALL THIS MANA!
Urborg: First Strike is annoying. Swampwalk is even moreso. THe very place we fight for is on our side. How can YOU hope to defeat us?
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth: We can see his tomb. He can see our master, calling to us, to come to his loving embrace, to help him spread his glorious perfection. His mists allow us to tap any lands we have for black mana, including fetches and Mutavaults, in case we don't have any. HAIL YAWGMOTH! Hold on, Father of Machines, we're coming to bring you back! And NOBODY will stand in our way!
Urza's Incubator: Because spending colorless mana on slivers is boring. Urza's technology recovered by the Phyrexians allows us to not have to. Slivers born in their hives, combined with the faster growth technology Urza once possessed, allows us to just play them like machine guns, super quickly and relentlessly.
Verdant Catacombs: WOW
Volcanic Island
: SUCH MANA
Windswept Heath: VERY LANDS
Wooded Foothills: MUCH SLIVERS
Wrath of God: And lastly, the one reason we know that we'll always prevail against any opponent: Because the ultimate one is with us! O Great Lord Yawgmoth the Ineffable, Father of Machines! It is I, GIx! I have come with my legion ofslivers! Helkp us vanquish these beings! You are the one true god: show them your wrath! We know you will not harm us: You make us indestructible! WE ARE INVINCIBLE! YOU WILL BE FREED! WE SHALL CONQUER DOMINARIA! SHANDALAAR! ALL THE PLANES OF THE MULTIVERSE WILL BE OURS!
All suggestions are welcome!
