Very cool, I'm trying to make a similar deck. maybe consider enchantments like Angelic Benediction or Finest Hour, or exalted creatures like Sublime Archangel. I realize that this deck doesn't necessarily revolve around the exalted ability, but they're easy buffs for Rafiq with other benefits as well.

Looks good! You might like these: Not of This World , Ajani's Presence , Adamant Will , Rebuff the Wicked , Inquisitor's Flail , Umezawa's Jitte , Champion's Helm , Hunter's Insight , Hunter's Prowess , Spellseeker , Kaho, Minamo Historian , Primeval Bounty , Death's Presence , Nature's Will , Mark of Sakiko , One with Nature

I have a Naya deck that I think you might appreciate if you want to check it out: Bruse Tana, Boorish Bloodsower. It involves giving Tana, the Bloodsower double strike via Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder , then an effect such as Bravado to deal exponentially increasing damage. It usually takes out everybody by turn 6 thanks to a buttload of 2-cmc ramp and side-techniques like Impact Tremors .

Hey, consider enchantment tutors? Enlightened Tutor, Sterling Grove, Idyllic Tutor, even Open the Armory and Heliod's Pilgrim for auras. Consider Siona, Captain of the Pyleas and Shielded by Faith? This combo would give you an alternative win condition that has synergy with the rest of your deck since Faith is fine with Rafiq. Sovereigns of Lost Alara + Eldrazi Conscription is good late game interaction with Rafiq.

I think lots of spells that only pump Rafiq once is wasting a lot of spots in your deck. Other than Berserk as well as Vines of Vastwood and Blossoming Defense which are also protection, the other spells could be cut especially the sorceries for cards that give repeatable pump/abilities, more draw, protection/opponent disruption.

Other cards to consider adding:

Farseek and Nature's Lore can get dual lands making them land ramp spell upgrades for Rampant Growth and Kodama's Reach.

Cards to consider cutting:

  • Stealth Mission
  • Phytoburst
  • Larger Than Life
  • Artful Dodge
  • Arrester's Zeal
  • Giant Growth
  • Groundswell
  • Infiltrate
  • Might of Old Krosa
  • Mutagenic Growth
  • Crypsis
  • Veil of Secrecy
  • Might of Oaks
  • Emerald Medallion
  • Sapphire Medallion

Good luck with your deck.

This deck won me a commander game on turn 5, so I'd say it's pretty solid

About the landsbase; i would cut the fastlands, Botanical Sanctum & Razorverge Thicket, Seachrome Coast and put in the battlelands, Canopy Vista, Prairie Stream and a Temple of the False God or a Alchemist's Refuge or Novijen, Heart of Progress. This is far more efficient, battlelands have a basic supertype and are fetchable.

I would swap Birds of Paradise for a Chromatic Lantern or Dryad of the Ilysian Grove for the manafix.

Llanowar Elves for a Ramunap Excavator or Crucible of Worlds so you can cycle the fetches.

What a powerfull, and broken deck! Rafiq of the Many is a card that i love for it's power and it's art! About the deck himself, I think that's pretty much complete. Just have one question: Do you consider running just one board wipe, Time Wipe is very appropriate in this deck, just if things go south and there are too many treaths on the board... But in overall it's a fantastic and powerfull deck!!! One day i might build it ;)

Might recommended Felidar Umbra or Spider Umbra over Hyena Umbra.

Oh, and Smothering Tithe is pretty great in any white edh deck. :)

Great build, +1!

Hey, nice deck to you too! You commented on my deck,Drawing Out the Game, and it was really helpful. However, even though I would love to improve my land base, most of those lands are quite expensive. I am aiming to build this deck as cheap as I can while trying to include some of the key components. Thanks for the help though!

Reconnaissance is a VERY underrated card that will allow you to take Rafiq out of combat after damage has been dealt during the end of combat step (the combat phase has 5 total steps). Not to mention it would also help if your opponents have any combat tricks up their sleeves.

With your unblockable theme have you considered going with creatures that have unblockable built in? Don’t matter if you have commander damage with them. You’ll never have to worry bout your one creature not getting through because you don’t have a card in hand to make your one attacking critter unblockable. Used to have a rafiq deck as well and that’s how I got around it. Had 8-10 unblockable creatures in it.

This is pretty much my all time favorite voltron deck, I'm working on a Taigam, Ojutai Master voltron deck and I prefer they way that you built this one with more spells than equipment, do you have any card suggestions?

June 1, 2020 3:25 p.m.

voltron was my first type of decks i built, ur using the og voltron commander, respect.

Try Inkmoth Nexus. I think it’s a one slot adjustment that can potentially have a big impact on the deck.

I don't know if you ever run into issues with Maze of Ith and the other lands somewhat like it, but some cards like Wasteland, Strip Mine, Tectonic Edge, or Ghost Quarter might be useful for avoiding those pitfalls.

I like this unique build. +1.

Thank you for all of the amazing comments- everyone! I try to refrain from commenting on my own decks but all the support and suggestions this deck has gotten has been so helpful, so I felt like it would be good to appreciate all of that!

Thank you WhyJWhy, king-saproling, multimedia, EvilCookie, Davinoth, Swim_ish, TheManaForge, ProximaNova, KayneMarco, Megalomania, and bushido_man96 for all of your suggestions! I have considered every single card recommended to me, and many of them have entered my decklist. 20+ cards from my deck have come from suggestions and it would never be the same without any of you guys.

Thank you Pixl13, Groot92, 12_dwarfs, Ac1d_W4term3l0n, Beranabus01, Oloro_Magic, and casual_competitive for your comments and support on this deck! It has come a long way over the past year and I am very proud of it, and it always makes my heart leap with happiness when I hear kind words as such.

Thank you also to everyone who has upvoted this deck as well! As much as I'd like to give everyone a shoutout I think that would be a bit harsh on my fingers, but everyone who did upvote this, thank you so much for your support, I appreciate it more than you can know.

Good luck and good wishes to everyone! May you always hit your land drops, and stay safe during the current circumstances. Happy tapping!

One, the CSS work looks great. Considering that, I think you need a better deck image in the upper left. Preferable, custom art :). blue on blue is also a little bit hard to read.

Land destruction in the land base seems to be lacking. I don't think you need a bunch, but a Strip Mine or one of its cheaper brothers would do nicely.

You've clearly got your quick win strategy built out through the entire deck. It is very nice and consistent. It would be cool to see one or two heavier hitters in here. It would be overkill to drop Colossification on Rafiq of the Many, but you are pumping a lot and could get more players at once possible by attacking with more than one creature and something like that.

You want to attack a lot and quick, so something like Sword of the Animist might be useful while providing a small pump...I know, it's equipment. A few more might not hurt :). Along those lines, Blackblade Reforged might also be a nice add.

Maybe replace Diminishing Returns with Windfall. I think you could use a little more draw overall and possible a little less unblockable. You'll get to what you need if you are drawing more and possible other answers. A couple cantrips wouldn't hurt. You already have Sylvan Library in here, but Rhystic Study is notable absent.

Have you considered a couple stax pieces like propoganda to avoid those quick token strategies?

One thought and the way I may build it (more on that below) is to stick with the quick pumps, fast style, but bring a heavy counter package. You have a few, but I'd probably run up into the 10-12 realm. Just a thought and may not fit your style or playgroup.

Thanks for a well fleshed out deck description. I always appreciate seeing that. I love that the deck is fast voltron combat tricks. I sort of want to build it. I play quite a bit of voltron, but none of my decks fit this mold.

One more Comment :D

I'd consider dropping Nature's Lore and just going with Bant Panorama.

Good build. The format on the page is a bit troublesome for those of us who are colorblind, however.

I agree with sub780lime that you seem like you could use more draw. Return of the Wildspeaker, Life's Legacy and Rhystic Study would be my suggestions for that.

Also, you have a helluva lot of ramp. You're commander only costs 4, your average CMC is 2.00, more than a quarter of the deck is one mana or less, and you're running 13 ramp spells? Personally, I'd cut that down a bit, and use the space for draw and protection. For the latter of those, I'd reccomend at least a couple counterspells (Arcane Denial and Mana Leak come readily to mind), and Whispersilk Cloak which doubles as evasion.

I also agree with Blackblade Reforged from a previous comment, and would add God-Eternal Rhonas and Wine of Blood and Iron.

That's all I got. Cheers!
