I have always loved playing with Edric, Spymaster of Trest, and when I noticed that these two partners were kinda like him I felt inspired. This is pretty much an Edric deck that trades in green for Mardu.

How It Works

There are a few main synergies that we are combining to control the game, build up value engines and eventually win the game.

• 1) Creatures that cannot be blocked.

They trigger card draw with our commanders and slowly win the game. There are other value engine cards that trigger from creature combat damage as well.

• 2) All our creatures are small, below 3 power and with a cmc of 2.

Many board wipes and recursion spells are amazing with a creature base that fits this profile. It gives us some one sided wrath effects and also multiple ways to recur basically our entire graveyard into play.

• 3) Spot removal, counterspells, board wipes and discard effects.

A bit of disruption amd tempo loss for an opponent can make a small early lead with some active spies turn into a virtual lock on the game.
