This is a tempo deck, not really a true control deck. It has tons of bounce spells and creatures that draw a card when they connect. Still needs lots of work.

Lots of ramp, creatures with ETB effects, value from Riku, tempo and tokens. Until we trade everything in for random cards off the top with expensive spells!! Its like magical roulette!!

Retired Paper Decks

Elf Powered Infinite Mana Combos....it was my most tier 1 of decks. I decided to break it up and distribute its cards amongst my other decks. I still have a proxy version built to play with though so it's not completely gone. Its my only proxy filled deck, everything else is 100% real cards.

Budget MTGO - Tier 1

This is my favorite online deck, its really powerful and its an under 25 tix budget deck! It's weakness is its a bit soft to heavy control or super fast combo decks..they usually just eat it up (in 1v1 games especially). However vs. average "fair" midrange commander decks its a super powered monster that always feels like it's winning. I am constantly amazed with how much of a lopsided freaking board advantage it gets when its allowed to actually play Magic. If anything it plays too much, opponents have to watch you play upwards of 5-10 spells a turn often starting turn 5 or 6. Games spiral out of control quickly for opponents if left unchecked because few "fair" decks can out race how much it can do each turn once it gets going. Its actually really fun to play those kind of games, and it does them great in 1v1 or multiplayer. Its definitely way less fun to be the opponent against this deck. Lots of mana dorks and ETB creatures and free spells and card advantage.

Super budget deck! Not quite as explosive as the "Value" version I built, but it makes up for that with more ways to say no and steal stuff. It's better in 1v1 games vs. control decks too. Doesn't ramp as hard though, so there's less turn 3 Rashmi. It doesn't really have the goods to be a serious control deck, but it's more controlling than the other Rashmi build I have.

Under $100 and pretty good looking...

Additional Notes

My collection of paper EDH decks has been meticulously crafted for maximum power and mutual gameplay fun, while still maintaining a reasonable budget. Each one is different colors, different strategies, and different power levels from each other for playing against different kinds of opponents. I enjoy being able to play with different decks all the time to keep things interesting. I designed them all to be their own individual experiences, with as few overlapping cards and strategies as possible.

Except for Sol Ring, its in almost every deck. I own 15 of them now.

You can see from the picture that I have them all in their own deck boxes, each with a custom label on top. They are also all double sleeved and each box even contains the tokens the deck uses. No sense going to the trouble of assembling these decks and not making them nice to use and well protected.

As far as online decks I have no interest in "investing" in another collection like my paper one just to play online. However it's super fun to have some EDH decks to play online every now and then so I bought enough super cheap singles to build some fun decks. They are competitive enough to win multiplayer games and casual 1v1 games, but they are not good enough to legitimately win 1v1 leagues. Which is just fine for me because it's free to play with them in the practice room now that I "own" the cards.

My tier system is basically figured out by comparing and battling my decks against each other and vs. other people in my meta. How consistently and quickly it can win is a big factor, so is how much removal it has in it. I've seen other people have very complicated and specific ways of calculating the tier of a deck... mine is basically done by gut feeling and personal gameplay experience. Occasionally the decks shift up and down in my list when they get improved or outclassed by their peers.

Generally speaking control strategies and super efficient combo decks are tier 1, tuned mid-range battlecruiser decks are tier 2 and slower, more budget, or weird theme/tribal decks are tier 3 and below.

I just started my online account in December 2016. I have never opened a digital pack or done a draft online, so all the cards were bought as singles. Currently I have only invested ~$20 in my entire online collection to play Commander. With that much money I bought the fixings to build a bunch of good decks, with different play styles and power levels. I have them listed above.

Many EDH power cards are waaaay cheaper online than on paper (although some vice versa), and I try to acquire as many of them as possible. So far my whole collection is focused in Simic colors, and its helped me budget wise a lot. I just like having a few different fun decks to play online. I love that it's free to play online once you "get" the cards. But I love paper Magic like a million times more than MTGO. Like a billion times more. I hate misclicks so bad. End rant.

I have always been a deck builder. I learned Magic in 1994 while I was in middle school. I distinctly remember a deck I built after Alliances came out that nobody at my school wanted to play against...it was something like 20x lands and all x4 ofs Sinkhole, Stone Rain , Hymn to Tourach , Dark Ritual, Lightning Bolt, Incinerate, Ball Lightning, Hypnotic Specter , Balduvian Horde , Order of the Ebon Hand . Later I got to play standard (then called type 2) with Fact or Fiction and Cunning Wish and Upheaval + Psychatog and it was awesome. Eventually I felt I was done with the game and sold all my cards. So many cards...that are so much more valuable now than when I sold them. It was a huge mistake that I don't even like to think about. When the first Commander precons came out, it got me back in...I bought all 5 of those decks, and it helped jump start a new collection. I've been Commandering ever since.

Hello there! Got some ideas for you. First off I feel Like if you want to maximize your Gishath triggers you want to max out on dinos. Like 40-45 dinos, 45-50 mana sources, 10-20 other spells seems right for a dedicated tribal ramp deck. If you need more dinos after Ixilan is all known don't be afraid to include Mirror Entity, Taurean Mauler and Chameleon Colossus.

I would cut things that rearrange the top few cards. Gishath can look at the top 7 cards anyways unless you can rearrange more cards than that it seems pointless.

For ramp spells I would focus on ways that you can put lands right into play as opposed to Mana rocks or Mana dorks which can die. I feel like a deck like this that wins by committing to the board should avoid doing that with everything because you're already weak to board wipes. I'm less a fan of a card that reduces the cost of casting a dinosaur then just a good Explosive Vegetation effect which ramps everything. Anyways how many times are you going to cast more than one in a turn? Except sol ring that goes in everything, right?

As far as the 10 to 20 other kinds of cards I have some ideas...Pyrohemia is probably the best enrage enabler I know plus it's really good. Lightmine Field seems good for those reasons too if its important too trigger enrage and defend the board simultaneously. Rishkar's Expertise looks good and awesome. Asceticism, Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection to protect your stuff. Relentless Assault and Seize the Day kinds of cards combined with blanket haste from cards like Fires of Yavimaya could get epic. Garruk, Primal Hunter and Garruk Wildspeaker are both solid options. Marshal's Anthem is a great spell for a deck like this.

Honestly I have been thinking about building one of these decks myself because it looks fun. Happy gathering!

September 13, 2017 1:51 p.m.

It's a tricky question... I think I get the most joy from playing my Rashmi deck online against random strangers. Because it wins all the time...and by huge margins of card and board advantage.

When I play in real life with my friends, since I have 18 decks built currently, I mostly enjoy playing whatever deck is newest to me. For me it's fun to be able to switch decks and always have another good deck to switch to all the time.

Technically my Mazirek and Kraj decks are probably my two favorite to play right now, but they also happen to be 2 of my newest decks. However I do enjoy that they are both capable of being extremely powerful but also kind of weird and underpowered simultaneously. Building generic good stuff and format staple filled decks with Tier 1 Commanders is less exciting creatively for me as a deck builder and less exciting strategically as a player to pilot. I enjoy the challenge of winning with potentially unknown and weird cards and I'm addicted to deck building, I don't use proxy cards, and I don't often break up decks. Its possible that these preferences are shared amongst my play group to some extent and so we play decks like them vs each other a lot.

So out of the 3 you mentioned I personally would have the most fun with Hapatra because her decks tend to be filled with weird -1/-1 counter synergy cards that you can't use anywhere else. That said Hapatra decks kinda build themselves as a result, but they are pretty cool and powerful. The Locust God decks I've seen are cool and medium powered and kinda predictable. Avacyn is just busted all over and needs little help to be unfair. I'd be able to play it online more often than in person I expect. I'm sure that all three would be fun to play in the right meta.

Now that I'm running more mana dorks Paradox Engine finally made it in! Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

September 7, 2017 1:50 a.m.

I also thought of Acidic Slime, Ashnod's Altar, and Nim Deathmantle = reuse the slime's ETB for only 2 mana, at instant speed too. With Su-Chi in with the combo you get infinite colorless mana too so you can nuke the world.

September 4, 2017 8:41 a.m.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa + Masticore or Thornbite Staff = the repeatable ability 2G: destroy target land. You can even do a bunch of Kamahl activations during the opponent right before you's turn's end step, so the lands stay animated until the next end step. That way you can untap and use even more mana to kill lands, that way something like Contagion Engine or Cyclone can wipe all the lands you can pay G for.
