Enchantment (1)

Creature (1)

Land (1)

This Simic combo deck is an intentional spoof on typical combo decks by showcasing the obnoxiousness of Deadeye Navigator. Aside from jokingly asking, "Why is this guy not banned?", it also acts as a teaching tool to other players to pack the appropriate removal and countermeasures in your deck, lest you get picked apart.

The gatekeeper wincon is the following... Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron + Prime Speaker Zegana From this interaction, all other interactions are easily possible.

For redundancy purposes, I've included Peregrine Drake and Coiling Oracle as well, in case any of the others fall.

Deadeye pairs well with any of the following creatures...

eternal witness

archaeomancer

palinchron

peregrine drake

riftsweeper...

etc... etc... anything with an ETB or LTB trigger... like Nevermaker, which only has to leave the battlefield in order to trigger...

Other wincons:

Biovisionary + Rite of Replication

Avenger of Zendikar + Craterhoof Behemoth + Deadeye Navigator , for a token-style beatdown.

Infinite turns, via Deadeye...

Blue Sun's Zenith, with infinite mana...

Game changing interactions include...

Abundance + Sylvan Library

Eternal Witness + Evacuation

Cream of the Crop + Lurking Predators

Notes about the deck:

  1. In addition to this deck being multiplayer legal, this deck is also French EDH (Duel Commander) legal. This was done on purpose in order to be versatile for play groups and different playstyles; for one on one games, Edric is swapped out for Momir Vig.

  2. Riftsweeper is a potentially game changing card. At one point it was banned because it could reshuffle commanders back into the library without ever touching the field. With the distinction now made between the Zone and face-up exile, Riftsweeper has the ability to do some work. Gemstone Caverns and Force of Will are two example cards that require the exile of a card from hand; paired with Deadeye Navigator, he can then bring back all cards from exile back to libraries, thereby making all play zones accessible.

  3. Cream of the Crop and Soothsaying deserve some mention here as well. These two have the ability to scry and fix your draws, at a fraction of the cost of a Sensei's Divining Top or a Sylvan Library. Cream of the Crop pairs well with Lurking Predators, which is why it's also in the deck.

  4. Eternal Witness + Evacuation can make for a long and tedious game for your opponents. This is, effectively, a soft board lock which defeats the morale of your opponents for the purpose of playing creatures. Archaeomancer also fits in the role nicely with Evacuation, since it's an instant.

  5. Birthing Pod. What's better than trading life for creatures? (There were Modern decks devoted to it, for crying out loud, before it got banned.) If you take a look at the CMC of the creatures I'm using, you'll notice that they're pretty well compact together in such a manner that if I Pod a creature, chances are there's something that I can get, so that I can keep the pod chain going.

  6. Recently, Abundance + Sylvan Library was instituted. As many I'm sure will attest, these cards individually work well to fix your draws, but when they work together, this results in drawing three cards during the draw step without having to risk losing any life for it. This interaction has served well in the interim to smooth out draws, and these individually have brought down the mana curve by roughly 0.10 mana.

Suggestions

Updates Add

In light of the new banlist update for EDH, the following changes have been made...

-1 Prophet of Kruphix

+1 Seedborn Muse

-1 Skyshroud Forest

+1 Dryad Arbor

Prophet was banned and GSZ for 0, finding dryad arbor were necessary changes.

Strongly considering the addition of Nature's Lore. Possibly considering Caravan Vigil as well. Strongly considering Leyline of Anticipation, in light of Prophet's banning.
