"Keranos embodies the fury of the storm and the sudden blaze of epiphany. A god of little patience and less mercy, he dispenses insights and blasts of lightning in equal measure. Keranos is intolerant of mortals, whom he sees as reckless. Yet he also respects those who take action with clear purpose, especially if they seek his approval first. Such individuals earn a two-edged blessing: momentary glimpses of the future, but the inability to change what is to come."

Ravnica is back! And has brough a lot of cool new cards. Really interested to see how these shake up every format going forward. But, we got a lot new toys to play with in this deck with Izzet being one of the five first guilds as well as getting rid of more non-storm cards to better streamline winning once we get going.

Ral, Izzet Viceroyfoil > The Mirari Conjecture

  • Took too much setup and never wanted to cast it if I had nothing going on. Ral provides card draw as well as putting spells and unwanted cards into graveyard, removal and a wincon in his ultimate to keep us going when storming if we can make it there.

Aetherflux Reservoir > Chaos Wand

  • Wand was too cute and only really good with Paradox Engine plus having enough rocks was difficult. Reservoir is another storm win con and sometimes just getting a little life from a few spells is nice if not going off.

Firemind's Research > As Foretold

  • Way better in a deck with more instants or if you have the ability to increase the counters faster. Firemind's gives us payoff for casting spells in card draw and damage once we start storming.

Thousand-Year Storm > Swarm Intelligence

  • Holy moly could they haven't printed a more awesome card. This gets crazy once we start going being able to copy our spells as far as we want to go. Choose to only keep one of these effects as they are quite expensive so Swarm didn't scale as much so it was kept out.

Izzet Locket > Mind Stone

  • Looking for colored mana rocks, rocks on 3 to be able to ramp into Keranos on turn 4 and can draw two cards late game if we need to cash this in.

Coldsteel Heart > Sky Diamond

  • Same exact card except can choose Red mana if needed.

Impulse > Brainstorm

  • Without enough shuffle effects, Brainstorm wasn't as good. Impulse lets us dig deeper and remove bad cards from the top of our library that we see through other means.

Niv-Mizzet, Parun > Stolen Strategy

  • This card is a lot better for decks looking for other people's spells for card advantage and really didn't do anything for this deck other than sometimes get a cool spell or exile something we didn't want in an opponents deck. Niv Mizzet gives us more gas by drawing cards once we start storming and can provide some incidental burn.

Cryptic Command > Khorvath's Fury

  • Never wanted to cast this card, even in Two Headed Giant Games, without burning myself a lot of discard stuff I wanted to keep. Cryptic Command is a good card to use as control or even into storm into with Mind's Desire.

Mission Briefing > Remand

  • Usually was winning so Remanding a storm spell didn't particularly matter. Mission Briefing helps dig deep, cast spells in graveyard with alternate costs and being instant speed on opponents turns to dig for something is quite nice.
