Maybeboard

This is my take on an Ayli hybrid deck that focuses on both lifegain, board control, and tokens. I plan to continue updating it with better lands / new cards as I can afford to.

Our Goal:

  • To generate as much health as we can while draining opponents.
  • Force opponents to sacrifice or exile their high priority cards maintaining control.
  • Generate tokens for constant pressure and to fuel our sac outlets.
  • Feel like a dirty combo player.

Reveillark Infinite Combo

Ashnod's Altar + Karmic Guide + Reveillark + Kalastria Healer or Cruel Celebrant

  • Either combo will drain the table while generating colorless mana.

  • With Karmic Guide and either Kalastria Healer or Cruel Celebrant in your graveyard play Reveillark for its Evoke cost and sacrifice it returning Karmic Guide and either 2 Power Win Con. Your win con enters first and then Karmic Guide returns Reveillark, you then sacrifice Reveillark to Ashnod's Altar first putting it on the stack followed by Karmic Guide and your Win Con. When the stack resolves your Win Con and Karmic Guide go to the graveyard first followed by Reveillark, thus repeating the cycle.

  • Reveillark always has to be first on the stack or this combo will not work.

Additional 2 Power Value Targets

Additional Sac Outlets

These outlets have costs that make them less than ideal, but serve to help set up for the real combo or to get out of tough situations.

  • Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim as long as we have the mana we always have a sac outlet in our commander. With Ayli we can choose to either gain life sacrificing tokens / creatures or at 50 life for a little extra mana we can not only do small combos, but also exile any nonland permanent. This is a great way to keep opponents down while we build toward our own combos.

  • Pitiless Pontiff a cheap sac outlet for (1) colorless that gives us an indestructible + deathtouch blocker.

  • Razaketh, the Foulblooded paying 2 life and sacrificing a creature for a tutor isn't a big deal with our lifegain and token generation. Admittedly cost intensive at 8 mana but it's my alternative to needing more tutors.

  • Teysa, Orzhov Scion whenever we sacrifice a black creature we get a 1/1 White Spirit with Flying, so if we use 2 white tokens /creatures plus Reveillark we get our combo and we get to exile a creature an opponent controls. A little clunky but possible.

  • Sadistic Hypnotist can not only be tutored by Recruiter of the Guard but allows us to clear our opponents hands at no mana cost.

  • Plagued Rusalka something I'm keeping around in case I find a use for it. I would maybe replace it with Flesh-Eater Imp as another potential win con.

  • Phyrexian Altar is on my acquire list as it's in my opinion the sac outlet to run making colored mana.

Lifegain Combos

The Doublers

Alhammarret's Archive Boon Reflection Rhox Faithmender for a potential 6x Lifegain.

The Win Cons

The Synergy

Board Control

Burn the heretics. So we're sacrificing all these creatures, but why sacrifice our own creatures when we can sacrifice our opponents creatures?

  • Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos make controlling our opponents board state easy enough, but with Grave Betrayal we convert our opponents creatures into our own sacrificial thralls. You can remove high value targets to keep for yourself ignoring keywords like shroud, hexproof, and indestructible. Any creatures you don't want can just be tossed into the fire forcing opponents to sac even more of their creatures.

Sacrificial Synergy

- Teysa Karlov double all my death triggers and my tokens get lifelink... Would you like a pamphlet for my cult?

  • Liliana, Dreadhorde General gives us card advantage for each sacrifice and her -4 is a 2 for 6 deal with both enchantments in play or 2 for 12 with Teysa.

  • Ogre Slumlord gives us a horde of deathtouch rats. They attack? They lose. They don't attack? They still lose because rats make really good blood sacrifices. At least that's what the movies have lead me to believe.

  • Kambal, Consul of Allocation opponents pay taxes to cast removal spells with blood or with a distinct lack of creatures, Spelltithe Enforcer says pay (1) or start sacrificing artifacts, enchantments, or even land. Nothing is sacred.

  • Vona, Butcher of Magan Oh no! Our opponents are paying their taxes!? Good thing we have all this extra life to pay Vona so she and her pirate cronies can destroy whatever is left.

Reanimation - The Key to Life

  • Sheoldred, Whispering One the mistress giveth and she taketh away all while looking good doing it.

  • Ravos, Soultender isn't the most optimal reanimator returning to our hand instead of the battlefield, but he gives our tokens +1/+1 so they don't die to a measly -1/-1 effect. Likewise, Treasury Thrull allows us to extort opponents and return any of our artifacts or enchantments that eat early removal.

  • Sun Titan returns any 3CMC or less permanent straight to the battlefield while being a nice blocker.

  • Bloodghast allows us to have a sac target that returns every time we play a land. Emeria Shepherd feeds into this returning any nonland permanent to our hand or to the battlefield if the land is a plains.

  • Gift of Immortality adds layers to removing our high priority targets and Phyrexian Reclamation is another fail-safe utilizing our life gain to return even more.

Advantage

So you're still not sold...

- Black Market because you can't buy what I'm selling just anywhere. This card puts in work and easily gets out of hand if our opponents don't remove it. When everything is going to die anyways, why not make a killing?

- Phyrexian Arena let's bet with blood money! Every deck needs card advantage this just adds to Liliana.
