Just throw your creatures in the grave, give Lazav evasion and one hit k.o. them using your commander again after the block but before the damage!

Thanks Blue_XIII, I really appreciate this :)

@zaneanderman What do you suggest to cut in order to make room for the Dynamo?

Withered Wretch doesn't seem great

September 19, 2018 7:50 a.m.

Could you please explain the usefulness of the level creatures? Thanks!

September 25, 2018 8:43 p.m.

Hi ThaneGarrus. The Level Up counters stay on Lazav even if you copy another creature, and the counters will work with any copy. (i.e. Copy Enclave Cryptologist, level up until level 7 and copy Lighthouse Chronologist at a opponent's end phase in order to score an extra turn).

I am brewing for my own Lazav, the Multifarious deck and came across possible interaction but unsure how the rules interaction works. Would Lazav, the Multifarious work with Thing in the Ice  Flip if Lazav used his ability to become Thing in the Ice  Flip, then played an instant or sorcery to trigger without Ice Counters? I am unsure if the "Remove an ice counter" part must be satisfied to trigger the transformation. If it works, seems extremely good board control for cheap and a suggestion for this deck, which made me start brewing in the first place.

cbeatty2021 Unfortunately it won't work because Lazav isn't a double faced card. =/

September 27, 2018 11:32 a.m.

There's one rules issue about Lazav, the Multifarious that I haven't been able to find a definitive answer about. When transformed, his name is still Lazav. Does this mean that creature abilities that specify the card by name work for Lazav, or not?

Vector Asp says that Vector Asp gains infect until end of turn. Lazav can have this ability, but he is not Vector Asp. He is Lazav, and his rules text States this explicitly.

This is an issue I see with many of the creatures listed here.

Hi iplayBANJO, it is not really an inssue, but WotC should update the it's gatherer to help players. You can found the answer at Necrotic Ooze's gatherer.

"1/1/2011 - If an activated ability of a card in a graveyard references the card it’s printed on by name, treat Necrotic Ooze’s version of that ability as though it referenced Necrotic Ooze by name instead. For example, if Cudgel Troll (which says “Green: Regenerate Cudgel Troll”) is in a graveyard, Necrotic Ooze has the ability “Green: Regenerate Necrotic Ooze."

Awesome! I've been trying to put together a Lazav deck and I got in a brief argument about this name thing and we couldn't find any rulings to back up either side. That helps a lot, thanks!

Hey man, sweet deck! Wanting to build Lazav myself, but my budget is not as up to par, but I do already own some good staples. I went a bit less on the infinite combos. Tell me what you think. Note: this is NOT for Cedh.

@Megalomania the focus is the combat tricks shenanigans (give Lazav evasion, opponent don't block, try to kill opponent copying something from the grave. The infinity mana isn't the focus and the cards I use for the 2 combos would be in the deck even if they didn't interact with each other.

Altar - Sac outlet (helps me filling the grave) and ramp.

Deathmantle - A very useful card in any deck that plays with the grave.

Titan - Not very useful alone, only for board status, but I choose to burn one slot for the. It's not a usuless card.

Monolith - Usualy an one time use ramp when we are goingo for the win (the grim one would be better, but I can't afford another right now).

Rings - Very usefull card and I have a lot of activated abilitys (if I manage to play bothe them and the Monolith it's just an extra).

Hailfire - This card just wrecks the late, I really like it!

You can actually use Mesmeric Orb + Basalt Monolith to mill your library if that’s what you’re trying to do.

I would add a bit more ramp like Dark Ritual, Mana Vault and even Cabal Ritual since part of the deck’s strategy is to fill up your graveyard.

Wall of Blood can do commander damage

September 16, 2018 10:23 p.m.

Thank you zaneanderman. It is better than Hatred!

September 16, 2018 11:04 p.m.

Basalt Monolith would also be good

September 17, 2018 10:54 a.m.

zaneanderman You're right, it would be another way to combo infinite mana with the Rings of Brighthearth. I just need to figure out what to cut! LOL

September 17, 2018 11:03 a.m.

Grim Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth - this combination does not generate infinite mana. Rings only works with B. Monolith that way. But You can use Power Artifact combo with both monoliths for infinite mana.

September 18, 2018 8:34 p.m.

Thanks, Matrixxx999! You are totally right!

September 18, 2018 8:42 p.m.

Ohhhh fancy. love the deck. Looks sweet.

September 18, 2018 10:47 p.m.

You could probably also use Thran Dynamo and other mana ramp, as copying cards in your graveyard is expensive

September 18, 2018 10:52 p.m.

I think you need to look closely at Lazav, Dimir Mastermind. He only copies creatures that are sent to an opponent’s ‘yard. This kind of affects your entire gameplan.

Also, if you’re going for infinite mana combos, you might want to switch commander to Oona, Queen of the Fae. Lazav just doesn’t feel like the appropriate commander for such shenanigans.

September 13, 2018 7:12 p.m.

Oh you’re talking of the new card! Sorry. Disregard my earlier comment and give me another shot at helping you.

You seem to be employing the use of two different strategies in this deck. Although both are great, i’m concerned that they do not complement each other.

Sticking to one will allow you to give the deck the focus that IMO it needs.

I think it’s a great commander though and i’ll definitely keep my eyes on your list. My very first commander was Lazav so I have a soft spot for the new version.
