Hall of the Mountain Queen

While many lands provide utility, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Maze's End are the only ones that provide an effective way to win. The two strategies are at odds with one another and have difficultly fitting into the same deck due to requiring a large focus on ramping a specific type of land (mountains vs gates). In both cases, many utility lands do not make the cut because of the sheer quantity of necessary gates or mountains.

Focusing solely on Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle leads to the most streamlined version of the deck with the following benefits:

Lands that enter untapped.

Access to almost all ramp spells.

Ramp spells multitask as mana generation, board control, as well as the win-condition.

The Three Pinnacles

The main strategy is to copy Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to compound the effect. In , the best tutors are for lands [or creatures], so Vesuva and Thespian's Stage are the only reliable options.

Ramp Begets Ramp

Unlike most "tinker" style decks that rely on the right mix of ramp and large spells, our mana generation is also our win condition. This allows a more streamlined and consistent playstyle that begins to resemble burn-based strategies.
