Maybeboard

Enchantment (1)

Don't step on snek!

This deck was built as part of a budget challenge with my playgroup. Rules: Max budget of $100 at time of creation, excluding basic lands. Individual cards have a max value of $2.50 (all prices TCG Player mid). Commanders were chosen at random.

Is that Oprah? No, it's Xyris! You'll be the most popular nope rope in town when you start handing out free card draw to every player at the table. Your enemies will be so overcome with avarice and gluttony, that they'll never even realize that you are building a disgusting nest of devil worms.

You've got a few possible wincons here:

  1. Overrun the board with snakes (Xyris, the Writhing Storm), tentacles (Nadir Kraken), cats (Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse), krakens (Ominous Seas), and other creatures.
    1. Bonus 1: Ogre Battledriver, Animal Sanctuary, and other cards can buff your snakes. You can also give them wings with Combine Chrysalis!
    2. Bonus 2: Tired of sand getting sand kicked into the eyes of your puny tokens? Sign them up for the Charles Atlas program and turn those sneks into Chads with Mystic Reflection or Esix, Fractal Bloom
  2. Inflict damage as you draw cards directly with Psychosis Crawler & Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind or indirectly with Goblin Bombardment (as a result of the token creation from Xyris and other cards.
  3. Triskaidekaphile is in the 99 if you can manage the number of cards in your hand at upkeep!
  4. There's enough card draw, you may actually manage to draw their decks, but this should only be considered a fringe strategy if everything else fails.>/li>

You've got a small arsenal of spot removal and counter spells to help protect your board state; use them wisely! There's plenty of ramp, so you should be able to play aggressive with spells. There's a decent amount of potential politics as well with cards like Edric, Spymaster of Trest.
