Inalla, Archmage ritualist edh

Commander / EDH UBR (Grixis)

yerfdoggodfrey

Introduction

This is a combo/ control style deck featuring inalla as the commander.

I have tailored this deck so that it is not super focused on one winning strategy. Rather, the deck includes a multitude of win cons. The point of the deck is for the player to build up a win con as the game goes along while finding answers to difficult situations and have fun in the process. Though certainly possible, it is not geared towards a round 3 win unlike some other very well made and competitive inalla edh decks.

With that said, the deck also does not have combos that lock opponent’s hands to one card only, force them to only play one spell per turn, or keep them from untapping lands. Again, it is meant for a fun experience.

Winning Combos

Wanderwine Prophets infinite turn

I’m sure many of you have seen this combo. Essentially, if you have wanderwine prophets and inalla (either in cz or on battlefield) and you also have 9 mana, you can get infinite turns and attack infinitely. I’ve added some re-animation cards in the deck you to cheat wanderwine prophets out through the graveyard so the combo only requires some 5-6 mana.

I know that some deck lists have a lot more reanimating cards, but I don’t want my deck to only have one strategy. Moreover, I’m not running many high CMC creatures (or many creatures at all), so I don’t want too many redundant cards.

Dualcaster Mage + Ghostly Flicker Combo

Yields you infinite hasty 2/2 dualcaster mages

Bloodline Necromancer + Ashnod’s Altar Combo

Yields you infinite hasty 3/2 bloodline necromancers.

Should you build this deck?

Now I know this isn’t the cheapest deck, but it’s by no means very expensive. I hope this is apparent from my choice of more budget lands and mana rocks. For example, scalding tarn is 4 times the price of polluted delta (both dual color fetch lands), and i’ve Only included polluted delta in the deck with a prismatic vista to fill the shoes of scalding tarn.

Due to some of the cards (mostly mana rocks) being more budget, their CMCs are on average higher than similar or equivalent cards in other inalla decks, which brings the average CMC of this deck to above 2. I had to add more lands than this deck really needs (I think 30 will do). If you have better cards at you disposal, feel free to swap them in.

Like I’ve said before, I wanted to build a fun deck to play with my mates and not a super competitive deck. If you want a deck that runs all three original dual lands and all the original fetch lands, and 20 reanimate cards to win through wanderwine prophets everytime at turn 3, then this might not be the deck for you. I tried my best to make game play non-linear so your buddies won’t avoid you when you ask to play edh with them :P
