Dark Deal

Decided to swap out one copy of Marauding Blight-Priest for Dark Deal. We still have 3 Blight-Priests plus Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to deal ping damage when we gain life, plus we have a way to capitalize on Liliana's Caress by forcing our opponent to discard their entire hand.

Interaction galore

Adding more field interaction for the early game. Took out Counterspell's and added more red removal spells. Also removed Surtland Flinger and added another Tectonic Giant. I feel that this might be better with the increase in cheap instants. I will be testing this weekend, so I will keep you all posted.

Synergies: Deathbringer Liege: Deathbringer Liege + Vectis Dominator / Syndicate Guildmage/Tidehollow Sculler ez dub. Lacks synergy with mono blue cards. Painter's Servant can solve this but probably isn't worth running just for that. Playing this gives even more value to WB removal, like Vindicate, Anguished Unmaking, or Utter End.

Bouncing: Not too much value here since the cmc is kind of high. Frost Lynx and Frost Trickster both are 3 CMC, if you're running Authority of the Consuls/ Blind Obedience, you're probably chilling though. Disciple of the Ring helps out if you're leaning blue heavy, you can spam spells like Choking Tethers and Djeru's Renunciation, but really it will probably better to use the enchantments ( Authority of the Consuls/Blind Obedience )to keep things tapped than it is to run spells that tap. If you're not running the tapper spells you can just run removal/counter spells. Thassa, Deep-Dwelling has insane value for bouncing if she sticks. You can continuously bounce Frost Lynx and Frost Trickster, and if you don't have them on board you can just pay to tap stuff to buy time. If you're running Ray of Command, Cloudshift can steal the creature. Tidehollow Sculler actually has okay bounce potential, if you time the bounce on the trigger, the first card you pick will be exiled indefinitely.

Planeswalkers: Gideon Jura might be the weakest one here. It does have removal built in like The Wandering Emperor and does pose a threat. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage can be really oppressive but I imagine that by the time she hits you either already have board control so you won't be getting great value off of the +1. The Wandering Emperor is kinda of nutty. Flash makes it really hard to play around. Great to play if you are winning or if you are losing.

I'm eyeing the effectiveness of Flickerwisp. I know... it's super good. but also not fetchable AND we have 3 Charming Prince. Cheaper, and more flexible, the difference is only the wisp can blink opponents things. Not always so necessary.. I have traded may trade 2 wisps for Sanctum Prelate and another Skyclave Apparition.

Dawnbringer Cleric is out of the sideboard for now since it never really was needed and has been replaces with Fiend Hunter to try to slow down big creatures

I decided to trade out Aether Vial for a couple of talismans to help ramp. I also added some tutors and went with Grim Tutor, since the lifegain helps offset the costs. Also added an additional copy of Liliana's Caress to help increase the damage output from discard.

Creature Update

Decided to clean up the creature base a bit, stick more to Clerics and reduce the number of Legendaries and singletons a bit. Replaced some 2-3 CMC features with some 1-drops that gain me 3 life on ETB (Cathedral Sanctifier).

Liliana Swap

Decided to swap out Liliana, Waker of the Dead for Liliana of the Veil, as it is just more efficient at 3 CMC. I originally went with Waker of the Dead because I already owned a copy and the other is quite a bit more expensive.

With the spoilers coming to an end. I am looking at adding in Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, Queza, Augur of Agonies, Void Rend and Raffine's Tower. I am looking at removing Dakkon, Shadow Slayer, Elixir of Immortality, Vindicate, and Esper Charm for the new additions. I will test these once the set fully releases.

Shout out to lhetrick13 for reminding me that this deck exists. I haven't modified it in quite a long time. Recently revamped to include better removal and a more focused threat package. Curious as to what everyone's opinions are on Modern Abzan in the current meta and at an affordable price tag no less.
