Large update, fleshed out nonland cards
Grasshoppeh1, 3 years ago
Fleshed out the nonland base to improve performance. + Increased ramp + land to be a little less than half the deck. You should have a good chance to hit the ground running. + Made the creature base more impactful. Should be easier to swing in or burn everyone down now. + Cut unnecessary cards to achieve above Todo: - Find a spot for wrathful dragon, its good. We want it. - The mana base works, but slower than I want it to be. On green should match the ramp. We play like a gruul deck - Find more space for interaction and offensive tools. This deck is tight...

Esper Sentinel (MH2) -> Dawn of Hope (GRN) Walking Ballista (2XM) -> Monoskelion (MH2) Bolas's Citadel (WAR) - > Abzan Battle Priest (IMA) Twilight Prophet (RIX) -> Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath (C14) Nykthos Paragon (MH2) -> Mikaeus, the Lunarch (MIC) Grand Abolisher (E01) -> Tidal Barracuda (C20) Karlov of the Ghost Council (C15) -> Retribution of the Ancients (KTK) Grand Arbiter Augustin IV (MMA) -> Seal of the Guildpact (C15) Notion Thief (ZNC) -> Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit (DTK) Archangel of Thune (2XM)-> Ajani Steadfast (M15) Ajani's Welcome (M19) - > Burnished Hart (C21) Blind Obedience (C17) -> Environmental Sciences (STX) Sanguine Bond (C21) -> Keeper of the Accord (CMR) Counterspell (MH2) -> Absorb (RNA) Despark (AFC) -> Anguished Unmaking (SOI) Cradle of Vitality (JMP) -> Rhystic Study (JMP) Twinblade Paladin (M20) -> Bloodtracker (VOC) Soul Warden (MYS1) -> Simic Manipulator (GTC) Hushbringer (ELD) -> Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim (OGW) Diamond Mare (M19) -> Abzan Falconer (MIC) Choked Estuary (MIC) -> Snow-Covered Plains (KHM) Snow-Covered Island (KHM) -> Snow-Covered Plains (KHM) Snow-Covered Swamp (KHM) -> Snow-Covered Plains (KHM) The below list is the remaining cards that i already own in the deck that stayed in it. So I will be subtracting the lowest end price from this current total. since I won't need to buy them. 1. Swan Song (SLD) 14$-22$ 1. Rhystic Study (JMP) 36$-40$ 1. Toxic Deluge (CC2) 17$-25$ 1. Command Tower (NEC).30c-4$ 1. Sol Ring (000:2) 1.5$-3$ 1. Arcane Signet (NEC) 1.25$-2.50$ 1. Mystic Remora (MED) 9.50$-12$ 1. Watery Grave (UNF) 14$-17$ 1. Reflecting Pool (CLB) 24$-35$ Price Range Minimum: 117.55 Price Range Maximum: 160.5 So these are my last attempts currently. I'm trying to aim for a deck that is well balanced with Type, Amount, (Current Amount) Lands: 35-38 (36) Ramp: 10-12 ( 8-10) Draw: 10+ (8-10) Single Target Removal: 10-12 (8-11) Board Wipes: 3 (3+) Creatures:25-35 (28) My Main theme is going wide with small creatures, giving them +1/+1 counters When i gain life, and hitting face. I feel my deck build here will work, however I feel I lost a lot of color Identity with it. Ending up 62% White, 19% Blue, and 19% black. I would've preferred to be closer to 40,30,30 or more balanced between them. If you have any tips or suggestions I'm all ears.

Although this update has been a long time coming, I've been tinkering with this deck with each new set, up to and including the technically yet-to-be released Streets of New Capenna. As that would imply, the updates have not undergone any significant testing (I don't have much time to play anymore), so the deck may be getting less and less functional over time. Still, there have been a lot of great cards printed for this strategy in recent sets (treasure support is through the roof), so I hope some of the cards I've included will inspire those interested in this kind of deck. Let me know if I've missed anything obvious from recent sets. There are several cards that might have briefly been considered, included and replaced for reasons I no longer remember!
I won't do a detailed breakdown of the changes (see the changelog for specifics). Most of the changes are like-for-like within the core mechanics of the deck, and mainly to test new interesting versions of burn/ramp/copy/removal printed in new sets (often because they somehow combine two or more of those functions). As flagged, there are now a lot of cards that make treasures as a secondary effect, which seems very handy. For example, there are now a bunch of loot effects along the lines of Pirate's Pillage which work great with copying, although I'm hesitant to go all in on those that cost four or more mana. I've tentatively put in Fable of the Mirror-Breaker Flip because it does a whole bunch of useful things - looting, maybe ramping, blockers and/or attackers for Howl of the Horde, a means of possibly copying Dockside Extortionist - but it might be a bit clunky in practice (and can't be copied), in which case Seize the Spoils will probably go back in.
There have been no major functional changes, other than that I went in on the Brash Taunter/Blazing Sunsteel combo foreshadowed in my last update, even though it does dilute the Shifting Shadow roulette a little more. Wheel of Fortune finally came out of the deck due to its (actual) cost, although Wheel of Misfortune is a very fun and potentially even more useful replacement. The New Capenna cards obviously need some testing - I'm a bit iffy on Structural Assault (particularly as the deck now has very little targeted artifact removal), so it might come out for Vandalblast if it doesn't perform. I also definitely want to make room for Spiteful Repossession, to see how well it works in practice.

Luxior, Giada's Gift is an auto add. took out Kasmina, Enigma Sage because she's..kinda useless here comparatively.
A Lot of Experimental Stuff
Decrepit_Angel, 3 years ago
I have gone even further into the realm of Turbo-Kozilek, with very good results. A lot of cards are subject to change as further testing is done but the vast increase in mana production (and therefore speed of the deck) has proven to be the correct choice. Also note, a few experimental cards are currently being tested.
If you don't play with proxies, by far the most expensive one is Bazaar of Baghdad as apparently this deck wants to have the most expensive set of lands physically possible. So far, the card has been very good for me. It can filter through an early hand to ditch high CMC stuff and goes well after casting Kozilek to filter the extra cards drawn and ditch useless lands. With Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Chromatic Lantern, and the fact that the first two are often seen in other decks in cEDH, the card is very rarely useless. Notion Thief is particularly rude in response so UB decks with 4 open mana are a bit of a concern with this card but otherwise it has been good. There is a good chance this will be here to stay given the value of the utility that it provides.
Another strange inclusion is Serum Powder. This deck mulligans pretty aggresively for fast mana and this seemed like a low-opportunity way to help mulligan a bit deeper. I have only used it for it's second ability twice but it was very good both times.
Also, Chromatic Orrery. The first and third abilities are completely useless but it taps for 5 mana which is good in a deck that wants as much mana as this deck does. It is also a consistent backup for infinite mana with Rings of Brighthearth and Voltaic Key as people have started to immediately target Basalt Monolith given that the two main infinite mana combos both rely on it.

Roiling Vortex isn't great. gets shut off by Pithing Needle. swapping out for Sulfuric Vortex.
Deflecting Palm worked once against Dark Depths, and was hilarious. now they know to Crop Rotation or Elvish Reclaimer out a Maze of Ith. so the package with Sacred Foundry is going away in favor of Alpine Moon. Blood Moon would be too slow.

Formerly posted this deck durning original Theros standard meta. I experienced some success during that time at the FNM events. I loved it so much, I kept the list for reference. I've revived the list here for Pioneer format. To be piloted as a punchy aggrieved deck, with plenty in the side board to be used against any opponents

Card Changes

Deck is still struggling with card draw, so I'm switching out Edge of Autumn with Horn of Greed. Hopefully this should give me more card draw, and I found that Edge of Autumn was just a dead card 80% of the time anyways

I have a couple friends who play decks that cause you to Sacrifice all your stuff.
Added:
- Sigarda, Host of Herons to the sideboard
To replace:
- Esika, God of the Tree Flip against these decks.

Dark Deal
Xalor90, 3 years ago
Decided to swap out one copy of Marauding Blight-Priest for Dark Deal. We still have 3 Blight-Priests plus Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to deal ping damage when we gain life, plus we have a way to capitalize on Liliana's Caress by forcing our opponent to discard their entire hand.
