The decks goal as a whole is to have a steady source of general damage from turn 4 onwards. I want to leave as much mana open on my turn as possible and play throughout the rest of the turn cycle.

The general strategy is to only deal with threats that directly threaten you. Counters need to be used sparingly, and when possible only board clear when combat has been declared in your direction. Learn to love quicken. Eventually you will quicken + demonic tutor to cast snapcaster mage for quicken damnation, and you will laugh at your opponent's audacity for attacking you.

In regards to mulligans. Try to find 2-3 lands ideally that make blue, and cantrips. Filter through the deck in the first several turns until you are comfortably able to sit at around 5-6 mana at which point digging for more lands is not necessary. At this stage of the game, sit back and try not to die.

Politics are awesome, abuse them when possible. Always make someone else the villain.

Kozilek -> Shadow of Doubt

My group is finally getting better, I no longer need to run Kozilek to combat mediocre mill decks. I finally found a foil shadow of doubt, so it's getting a slot.
