Greetings, and welcome to my Ydris, Maelstrom Wielder Commander Deck! Before, I was Smashing Vials Everywhere! It was a blast (pardon the pun), just not for my opponents. Appsrently I'm the only one who has fun when casting Army of the Damned 3 times. Therefore, my playgroup forced me to create another deck, and I'm planning to make the regret it!

ENTER THE THRONE ROOM IF YOU DARE!

So, Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder broke through into Kaladesh alongside several Jund warriors (see Monster Energy! (Jund Standard). He managed to get a hold of the Paradox Engine and Aetherflux Reservoir, and now he's going to combo off, blowing our opponent's into oblivion!

Anyaways, the deck is a storm deck. Our objective is to mill our opponent's out with Consuming Aberration or explode them with Aetherflux Reservoir.

Step 1: Play as many mana rocks as you can.

Step 2: Find Paradox Engine and Aetherflux Reservoir/Consuming Aberration.

Step 3: Connect with Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder.

Step 4: Storm off!

Other than that, the deck plays a control game, using cheap and efficient removal to keep our opponents at bay while we assemble the combo with a plethora of draw spells and tutors. If all else fails, we can win with a big creature.

So, how exactly does the wombo-combo work? Well, first you need to have non-land mana producers, at least 4 mana worth. Then, you need Paradox Engine and either Aetherflux Reservoir or Consuming Aberration (preferably the former). Then, with all these in play, you need to find some way to deal damage with Yidris, possibly by bribing another player. Then the real fun begins. Start by casting a spell, any spell, after floating mana with your rocks. That spell will untap your rocks, and before you cast your cascade spell, tap your rocks again, floating more mana. Rinse, repeat, and STORM THEM TO DEATH!!!!!! If you run out of spells, Past in Flames keeps the combo going.

This is where I will keep a record of interasting interactions for cards, and how some can be more helpful than they appear.
  1. All cards with cascade are exceptional at finding mana-rocks.

  2. Key to the City is here to make Yidris unblockable.

  3. Horizon Chimera, Baleful Force , and Alhammarret's Archive are INCREDIBLE together, which is a side-combo of sorts.

  4. Boompile is for politics. I'm usually targeted, so this can threaten to blow up if they bother me.

  5. Metallurgic Summonings is an extra win-con, also keeps the combo rolling.

  6. Mana Bloom can be used to maximize the cascade provided by Yidris, Maelstrom Wieler.

  7. Aqueous Form can help Yidris get the touchdown, and provides a little bit of cascade filtration.

WHEN IN DOUBT, COMBO OUT!!!!
