Disclaimer: The deck is intended to sit around $50 dollars, excluding the cost of the commander. The Maybeboard will consist of upgrades that I think would fit the deck's synergies or other options for players to consider, which I'll discuss as I develop the deck further.

This is my own budgeted Meren commander deck that focuses on denying your opponent(s) a board state while building up your own. The strategy is to sacrifice your small creatures for value, destroy threats to your board, and cheat in your big creatures with reanimation effects, among other things. It's good for 1 v 1 but is designed to go wide in multiplayer. It also has contingencies just in case something isn't panning out, such as token generation, group burn, etc.

I'll go through each of the categories in this deck and how they'll help you come out on top.

Step 1: Ramping Show

I've shied away from using the traditional "tap for " creatures because I don't think they add much to the synergy of the deck. By sticking to ramps that trigger as an enter/ leave the battlefield effect, we can build up our Experience counters on Meren and bring those creatures back within a short amount of time, so we can sacrifice them over and over. This also has the benefit of filtering out basic lands so that we don't hit any dead draws late into the game.
