It's time for Derevi, the Empirical Tactician, joined by all of her friends!

Generally, building a deck around Derevi is based on locking out your opponents with stax effects, while abusing Derevi's ability to untap your own permanents. I wanted to take a different approach with Derevi's flash ability and ETB effect.

So... this deck has a large theme of ETB effects. There are a few creatures that don't necessarily fit the build, like Ojutai and Daxos, but the sub theme of my deck runs on Derevi's large army of legendary creatures. It also tries to get some value out of Birthing Pod to select which creature might be the best fit for the current board state. Also, it helps that Derevi is able to continue returning to the battlefield after she sacing her to pod.

Keep in mind this deck is a largely "budget" deck. I got a couple nice pulls from boosters and worked them in along with some cheaper options for the remainder of the deck. I haven't got to playtest this deck much yet, but I like the idea of Derevi being our Commander who, although consistently being able to control the game with her keen sense and battle wisdom, she puts her army before her own life to keep creatures returning to the battlefield.
