This deck is not meant to win (although it always comes in second place - especially if you ask to be there before the game starts). Just make a really fast game of EDH (which can usually last hours, being a pain when someone has somewhere to be), and to ensure everyone has fun. I already own most of these cards, so I will likely proxy them to reduce cost. I understand the mana base (land choice) is not the greatest, but this is meant to be budget. Also, it is fair to have many lands enter tapped to purposefully slow myself down and not break the game too fast ;) In actuality, the deck only cost me $30 to build because I already own all the cards $5+.

Kruphix, Kiki-Jiki, and Nezehal seem threatening, but honestly they are only there so I can not have a max hand size, or to continually redo the broken ETB effects for everyone.

Edit: I have added several more win conditions to the list, because sometimes this deck will make the game faster by just winning the game.

The mana boosters: Dictate of Karametra, Zhur-Taa Ancient, Mana Flare, Mirari's Wake

Win Cons:

  1. Pestermite + Kiki-Jiki = infinite 2/1 flyers.

  2. Blue Sun's Zenith = mill.

  3. Vernal Equinox + Near-Death Experience + Angel's Grace = surprise, I win instead of you.

  4. Approach of the Second Sun + any mana boosters (doublers) + card draw

  5. Mechanized Production + Myr Propagator + mana boosters (better with Mass Hysteria, Vernal Equinox)

  6. Walking Archive + Kruphix, God of Horizons + Mana Boosters (better with Vorel of the Hull Clade) = Boost Walking Archive to a stupidly high counter count, and make your opponents draw 70-some cards on their draw step, usually making them lose the game.

  7. Biovisionary + Progenitor Mimic - Honestly, this is super slow, so if your opponents don't answer this in the 4 turns it takes, then you deserve to win anyway lol

  8. If it's just you and one other guy, then he decides to one shot you, you can bet Deflecting Palm is gonna surprise 'em!

  9. Winning by default (because no one wants to kill you) is also a fun time.

Other fun combos:

  • Assault Suit + Pathrazer of Ulamog = watch your opponents annihilate each other!! Sadly and usually though, someone has a greedy way of trying to take him from you so that it never makes a full circle around the table...

  • Assault Suit + the commander = now at every end step, everyone gets card draw! Or puts a land down! Definitely a faster game. Make sure to have the table agree to not kill him though...

  • Prosperity or Skyscribing + all the mana doublers = make everyone draw 101 cards, and therefore call it a draw (or the person with the most cards in library wins, I'm not 100% sure on the legalities anymore, but Gatherer says it's a draw??).

  • Tempting Wurm all by itself will break games... have fun!!

Sideboarded:

Alabaster potion for Near Death XP

Edit: 11/15/2018 - I no longer believe that this deck is much of a "budget" deck anymore. It is still less than $150 (with lightly played cards), and there are still budget card options compared to what I have here. For example, instead of Mystical Tutor, one could put in Temple Bell. There is no need to worry about mana curve with this deck; you'll be able to fix yourself, and everyone up, no problems ;)
