Maybeboard

Overview:

This is the deck that feels good to be bad. The core mechanics are gain a bunch of life. Spend that life on crazy 1 hit kill spells and incremental gains like card draw. Most of the damage comes from little 1 or 2 damage pings here and there but eventually it adds up and puts everyone in range of one big hit.

The 7 Deadly Sins:

I don't quite have a card named after each of the 7 deadly sins but I managed to come pretty close considering the options out there.

  1. No red for Blood Lust

  2. The only on colour for Gluttony is Gluttonous Zombie and it's not good enough.

  3. Greed

  4. The deck is pretty slothenly already and no magic cards have sloth in the name or even the flavor text for that matter.

  5. Wrath of God

  6. I've been considering putting Magus of the Mirror because the flavor text speaks of envy and the fun I could have bringing my life down to 1 and then swapping with someone.

  7. Divinity of Pride

Update: Tested the deck for the first time and it went a lot better than expected. I clearly have some major changes to make. I think I'm going to need some more card draw mechanics as I found myself without a hand very quickly. I also found myself never wanting to really attack except with a select few creatures...Divinity of Pride.

Update 2: I've been trying to reduce the curve down to a more manageable place. Right now it feels like I don't have much to do until about turn 4-5 and I think once my play group realizes how much life I gain they are going to take the opportunity at the start of the game to bring me down a few pegs.

Background: Looking for a new way to win I went through all of the you win the game if you meet condition XYZ. I landed on Test of Endurance and began to build. I realized that this was just a silly way to win and that I had just built a deck with a massive amount of life gain and nothing to do with it. I couldn't rely on just having more life than everyone. My play group has this "who is at the most health" mentality that quite often ends up defining who gets attacked. So I decided to do something about my massive life pool and found some ways to spend it. Cards like Kuro, Pitlord and Greed came to the forefront. I'm now refining and attempting to pay for all of the cards on the wishlist...I mean maybe list.

Possible infinite health drain combo by turn 4 under ideal circumstances. Exquisite Blood, Sanguine Bond, Sol Ring, Thran Dynamo , Blind Obedience, Swamp, Plains and then draw a Swamp in the first 3 turns.
